The local newspaper occasionally runs archive photos. These are from 1978. Apparently the fellow somehow got his finger stuck in a pinball machine. Looks like it was quite an ordeal getting him 'un-stuck.'

The flipper button holes are drilled at least an 1 1/2 inches in diameter . Does this guy have dicks for fingers?

#4 5 months ago

If you think that's bad you should see what happened to one of the beta testers of the disastrous (and now defunct) coin door fleshlight mod.

That's clearly a hint at Sterns next pin JAWS !!.. I got Chief Brody out of this.

Looks like they had to pry the lockbar off to get inside. Guess the operator should have left a backup emergency set of keys.

What a dipshit............he was playing Disco Fever............

OK, here is some hind sight:

The Emergency guy is breaking into a pinball machine. Note, that the game is still plugged in.
The guy must have bent his finger, and was pinned by what was left of the flipper button, or the flipper switch. Fingers are normally tapered, seems odd that a small screw driver was not used between his finger and the opening.

1978, guess the operator could not be located quickly enough.

Muhammad Ali was lucky to not injure his knockout hand.

That machine wanted to fight... hahaha

But leave it to Nicolas Cage to save the day

The same exact thing happened locally here in 2005. I had a TSPP which I sold to a local operator who put it in a movie theatre. The right flipper button came loose and someone stole the button. Some girl then played the game and to operate the flipper she had her finger in the hole, pushing the leaf switch. Unfortunately, her finger got stuck. If you think about it, it's the leaf switch is what traps your finger and trying to pull only makes it dig into your finger even more. So my friend had to go to the theatre, open the game and free her.

It has nothing to do with the shape of a persons finger. It's the leaf switch that traps the finger in place.

So how big were his fingers?

Imagine being pictured in a newspaper, and you're shown stuck on a disco fever. I couldn't explain that to the guys at the bar the next night... and I own one!

A newspaper.

No kidding? My folks owned a small weekly in Seattle back in the 1960's, and my dad was a newspaper editor for 40 years. My brother worked for McClatchy for 23 years. Tough industry these days.
