Quoted from wolfy:That red plastic trim on the backbox really looks cheap. That would have to be covered by some gold trim
Nothing looks cheaper to me than "gold." Real gold is fine, "gold" sucks. I'm pretty glad it's shipping with red.

Quoted from wolfy:Stern did not make any of these changes because they cost more. That red plastic trim on the backbox really looks cheap. That would have to be covered by some gold trim and the plain black speakers need a mod for sure. And the cabinet with decals instead of screen printing had to save a bunch of money.
You have any clue how EASY it is to pull and replace t-moulding? Really? If it bugs you that much, spend 20 bucks and do it yourself in another color or texture. I seriously doubt Stern is gluing it in, which might be the only hitch.
What I am looking for: what does the new code offer and when will Stern offer it for original owners?
Quoted from Shapeshifter:Just looked at mine - it has whips!
Mine has orange whips.
If you don't get it, look to the left at my avatar. Sorry, terrible joke I had to make.
Cab decals are way lighter...there are no deep blacks. Can see a little more detail in them though. Monger is better simply because of the chest light, but whiplash and war machine aren't as good.
Quoted from jayhawkai:Incorrect.

Ok. If y'all say so. I'm admittedly way newer to the hobby than a lot of y'all and I am not the original owner of my IM Pro but it came stock and unmodded and here are the Whiplash with no whips and War Machine figures. How about y'all post pictures of y'all's figures to compare.

Feels like we're talking about Plasma vs LCD HDTVs now.

Prior owner must have removed them. Even the Whiplash plastic has a little piece cut out where the whips go. Some people added EL wire to the whips to make them light up, but the stock whips were just some grey plastic.

Yea I bought the modded Whiplash from Hooked and the whips light up. It's fantastic.

some of the games shipped without the whips
Factory ramp protectors on the 1st run of IMs also.
Whips were included on whiplash.
The speaker panel decal on the VE looks like ass.
The gold trim on the head of the 1st run looked great and for those with brass or gold armor really looked awesome.

Agreed.
And I still think the new speaker panel looks a bit funky. I'd almost rather have the all black one on the ST in the pic next to it.
Looks great!!! Thanks for all of the pictures JJ. I will be replacing the figures on my game anyways so it's a non issue for me. The War Machine figure looks the best of the bunch.
I like everything else I am seeing so far. Can't wait to get mine!
If you don't like the new speaker panel decal and want plain black it's ridiculously easy to remove. I took the one off my Star Trek Premium (for er, testing purposes!) and it was a cinch, hardly even left any residue, black metal panel underneath it.
Really a non issue.

is there any pictures of it removed?
Quoted from Grinder901:Yet another double post. What's going on lately?
It's because you have double IM pins
Quoted from PinBiohazard:is there any pictures of it removed?
I can take one, I'll try and remember when I go out to the garage where my games are, the stock decal is still off it.
The backbox kinda reminds me of those late 1980s Ballys. And those were ugly.
Still this thing looks great...it looks BRAND NEW which is what people want, right?
And now someone who paid $1,000 or so for an original a couple months ago can still rationalize that they got something for the money.
And people who buy the new one get to bitch about tiny things that don't really matter, which is always fun.
So it's pretty much win / win for all.
At least I know which way round to place the machine..
Quoted from FrederikFrost:What does the action figures look like in real life? It's hard to judge off of photos, but they seem to be more clunky and uglier to me, unfotunately Is this what you feel after seeing it in real life too?
That's what I thought too.
Now that I've seen the pictures I am really happy I'll be getting one!
I love the new look of the speaker panel, I think the figures look as good as the ones on the original IM and I love that monger got a chest light! Also ramp protectors on both ramps and mylar around the magnets are a nice move from STERN!
I bought the figures that were on the original run anyway just in case. So I have the whips to put on the new molded whiplash and can replace War Machine if I want to.
I also already have the ramp protector for the right ramp from cliffy but now I don't even need it. Oh well…my bad because I couldn't wait. ))
I guess I'll keep it just in case my game comes without it. (I might just be a little paranoid there) ))
I think the new IM looks awesome in every way. Can't wait………but here in europe we still have to wait until the end of august earliest or september. Bummer! P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E…….
Quoted from mummite:Looks like both ramps have metal protection now. So any need for Cliffy's on the ramps anymore?
Noticed this as well. I like many others preordered ramp protectors for it as well. Oh well. No biggy.

If they were not why would the plastic under him have stock cut outs to hold whip tips? I have owend two worked on two others all had these holes and stock glued in whips.
Whips are a none issue because the ones Hooked make are far superior and if you want whips that is easily the best option. Rest of the machine looks awesome.

Mabye they were used during testing and possibly removed for production and had issues becoming loose ( which is why the plastic is as you state?)

I don't think anyone is bitching about the new back box except the old owners (IMO) who don't like the remake in the first place.
I don't know what you mean someone who paid $1000 for an original (You mean $1000 more?) I don't think there is any rationalization that they got a good deal, more like remorse. But bad timing can happen, I don't think there was much thought that the remake would happen, I posted that it would be a good idea and a LOT of people said they would buy one. But there was no confirmation until just a few weeks ago. But I think the dealers knew something was up before the rest of us.

There wasn't a specific reason, some of the games slipped through the cracks without them installed.

I love the new Backbox Style
Looking forward to a Spiderman VE-LE in the new Cab ( with web siderails)
Quoted from Gexchange:Just Took Some, We had some Land on our dock today and one is going to a Route customer who likes to have his on our floor for a day or two for testing. If you are in Denver Area, I don't know how long it will be here but its on the floor set to free play if you wanna check it out!
LMK if you want pictures of anything else.
JJLooks Great!

Darn, I just bought a SM
This truly would be a great seller. Probably more appeal than IM to most people.

Will never happen.
Quoted from Rarehero:Will never happen.
Why would they not?? Iron Man VE was a successful pilot
