Pic linking other post pictures isn't working. Figured out your system, didn't work. Then recently had a chance to reference a known pic link from one of my earlier posts, worked in preview, not when posted. The reason this isn't working is because if you would delete a pic from the first post, it would also get removed for the second leading to unexpected behaviour. That's why we disabled this possibility. So you'll need to upload the photo again if you want to use it in multiple posts. The idea is that re-using photos is something that's not happening a lot anyway.

Maybe it was an issue a while back when Pinside allowed the open editing of all posts no matter how old. But it doesn't make much sense now since Pinside has (for quite a while) locked down post content after 24 hrs. Seems like a waste of bandwidth too. And re-using photos isn't happening a lot because it hasn't been possible to do it for a while (the chicken or egg thing), not to mention that forum script description/guide is buried in one obscure place on pinside. Just some thoughts.
