I bought one some years ago that was supposed to be really nice, but turned out to be a bit of a wreck. I fitted loads of parts, including a new playfield, plus I stripped and repaired the cabinet and sprayed it gloss black and then fitted new decals. I won't hog up loads of space with photos, so just a couple here (excuse the fickle finger of fate in the photo - it was a reminder of where a part went for me).
The handiest thing I did - apart from loads of photos and tubs with writing on - was a piece of cardboard cut more or less the same size as the PF. I then drew a rough layout of the PF on it and put all the posts and bits on the cardboard in the right places after making small holes in the cardboard as I went. It saved a lot of sorting for all of the different size posts and pegs etc.
Good luck with the rebuild.
