Yes, announced on April fools day on purpose. The *joke* was that the machine was actually real; a sort of reverse April fools joke.
As for the pricing; making 30 of anything is very expensive. If there was a market for 1000's of these we could retail them for $995.00 each. A world like this is never going to happen again though. The 1930's are gone forever.
