Last night I went to pick up a super sonic. I had been emailing back and forth with the buyer for a couple weeks and only received 2 blurry pics and very little info.

We agreed on on a price and pickup time and I headed there last night. Upon arrival I pulled up to a million dollar house where the owner brought me done to the basement to show me the game. It looked like new.

So I paid him for it and started disassembling it. While taking it apart I mentioned how clean it was. The owner then casually replied that it should be very clean as it was never in a arcade and that his dad got it brand new as he was good friend with the owner of Gilchrist amusements in the 70s.

This was all mentioned after I paid him and he had nothing to gain. Deffinatly looks HUO. original glass no scratches, no playfeild wear, original keys/ coin box and there is still dimples on the playfield.

Looks like HUO to me....What a great find. Enjoy that beauty.

#6 7 years ago

First time I have seen such a clean machine, all silvery and shiny! insides look brand new! nice find.

#7 7 years ago

Gonna get it set up tonight see how it plays. Not sure how long I'll keep it but damn it's in nice shape.

#8 7 years ago

That's awesome! It's good to know that there are still some great machines out there.

It's probably going to be worth a lot more soon. Since the recent iphone, Android and PC release of Zaccaria Pinball, a lot of folks are discovering that these Zaccaria games are something really special. Congratulations!

#14 7 years ago

Really great find!

I can't help but notice those blank score reels under the cabinet. What purpose do they serve? I get that these Zaccarias have digital sound, but they still have score reels to keep score...

#15 7 years ago

looks awesome, great find. I would have bought it too. But i'm a zaccaria whore, so there's that. Tho, I usually only collect gen2.

#16 7 years ago

Ya it's been sitting a while gonna need some work to get running.

#17 7 years ago

Congrats. That's a nice find.

#18 7 years ago

Wow! Puts mine to shame! That condition! The blank reels under playfield, are advancing mechanism for certain aspects of the game scoring.

We'll see about getting the sound going. The sound system is horrible annoying though, but good to have everything working.

OK update:

Have the game playing 100% except the sound.

If I jump the contacts on the score relay that trigger the sound it will go off buy it quickly gets quieter and quieter then you have to let it "charge" back up for a minute then it will do the same thing when you jump it again. I've replaced the 3 main caps with smaller Newer ones of the same value but that didn't fix it. M stumped. Any advice before I start a new thread on it?

did you mess with the adjustment pot? go back and forth with it a lot. Clean it out. Those usually go to shit.

#21 7 years ago

I would check and then probably replace all of those electrolytic capacitors. chances are that after 40 years, they've all gone dry on you

#22 7 years ago

Adjustment pot is great and feels and looks great, if i turn it down and just the contact it goes off quieter if i turn it up and jump the contact it goes off loader just loses power quickly it seems then needs to charge before working again. That's why if your playing you never hear it as it doesn't get a chance to charge but if you trigger it manually from the scoring relay it sounds perfect. wait a minutes sounds perfect again. but it you leave it jumped it jump it a couple times in a row it gets quieter and sounds like a toy with batteries dying.

I want to do this what are the specs on them. the two biggest ones just says 104. the common ones say .04uf but no voltage and the really small ones just say 10n

no, the electrolytic capacitors are the round drum looking ones. some of them are axial (leads coming out of both ends) while other sit vertically (both leads on the bottom and the capacitor sits standing upright on the pc board (most of the time), but in the case of this board, they are all just leaned over

Those are all brand new see my above posts. The original were all axial change them to the newer ones which were much smaller.

Here are the old ones.

Awesome find! Cute type-o too on the playfield, in picture 6 of the first post. Enjoy your unique machine!

These classic Italian machines had a great coating on the playfields. I am staying in a guesthouse in Rome right now, and the owner has made a dining table out of 5 pinball playfields (sacrilege, yes). 2 of them are a copy of Flash Gordon by Bell Games. I've never seen used playfields from the early 80's look this nice.

ah, didn't see your earlier post. however, I do have a question. unless there are alternate points on that pc board, how does this work?

it looks like you used some completely unrelated hole for that cap. shouldn't the negative lead have gone to the other hole (circled in green) and not the one circled in red?

I call those ceramic caps whoopie cushion caps, because that's what they look like. They usually last forever.

I wondered when someone would ask that. It's so old it's a single sided circuit board so I reused the positive holes and drilled a small hole through the circuit board into the the ground on the back. I did that with 2 caps. Board works exact same with new caps as it did with old ones.
