(O've owned an AAB--Gold Strike--for 30+ years, and it is still a fun and captivating game. And the repeated knocker sounds!!)
Game I hate(d) that may be great? ACDC comes to mind. Really not a fan of it when it came out. Seemed generic. But maybe the software evolved enough, and I learned enough--so I see it as a challenging game, one of the greats. (Although I still suck at it.)
