"Who the hell is this Keith guy?"
- Wes Upchurch
Quoted from PanzerFreak:Looks awesome! Can't wait to see the game populated with its toys and features.
Lol
Best thing about this update is how you CANT talk about the toys yet
This title really has my interest. Looking FW to playing the game.
Quoted from dannunz:Your welcome!
Drop targets in front of stand ups will be a lot of fun. Can't wait to see how the code utilizes this.

Thanks for the photo. Not clear enough to really make out a ton of detail, but good for confirming some things. I can see the artist took my suggestion about the dwarf heads to heart for instance, which is great, I think that's a definite improvement,
If anyone is going to the open house this weekend, some hi-res close ups of the playfield would be appreciated.
Quoted from Vongoosewink:Can't wait to see this with the plastics and the toys... I'm really curious about the Smaug toy
Panzer, leave that body
Hope everyone that attends JJP's Open House has a great time. Enjoy and look forward to all the pics, vids, and updates.
Very impressed with what I see, wish I could be in NJ to see everything in person. It's pretty amazing how small subtle changes can make such a huge improvement in the overall look.
Quoted from Pinchroma:We listen very very closely. We aren't building the games for us
And for some of us the games are not getting built at all.

: )
Quoted from pinball_keefer:The internet scares me sometimes.
Me too, and Dragons.....
Quoted from Aurich:It's not the clearest photo to work with, and angled funny, but this should help visualize what's changed:
Edit: Hmm, Pinside processing is making the gif shift around funny, look at it here, it's much clearer:

You sound a bit surprised by this announcement. Since you were one of the most vocal when the original playfield was released to public and a lot of your suggestions seem to have been adopted. I would have thought JJP would have sent you a thank you letter.
Great suggestions Aurich the playfield looks a lot better from what I can see in the fuzzy image.

Hey, not everyone is willing to listen to complaints. I'm happy some of our suggestions made it into the final product, whether they were mine or other people's, we all benefit from it.
Quoted from RobT:WTH is "lionman"?
Swords of Fury reference. Totally rad game (ok, now I really sound like a child of the 80s)
I definitely feel like the changes to the playfield, based on our suggestions or otherwise, are positive. Thanks for the pics.
Quoted from ulmpharmd:Was the cab direct print and cleared? Can't tell from that first pic..thanks for posting those!
No. The mock-up at the open house was for show only and printed decals were applied. I was also told that we can expect changes to the art package based on the third film. The cab still looked good but the playfield was particularly impressive. It looked pretty incredible.
Quoted from ForceFlow:The mock-up cabinet was displayed at the open house with invisiglass of some sort.

I spy an Entropy coin door on TH. What are the chances that this game will get that door instead of the cheesy Happ door? I am a stickler for details and that really bugged me on WOZ.
Anyone else notice that the hole for the Smaug toy is much larger in the playfield in the cabinet pic versus smaller in the pics with the playfield out of the cabinet?

I saw that. Wonder if the PF in the cabinet was an earlier version.

It is...look at the art.

New playfield has an extra hole in front of the big hole too.
I really like it that they took the effort to implement some of the constructive feedback. Thanks JJP team
For me the art looks great except for one thing I did not notice before: the tail of the dragon ends under one of its legs so it looks like they are connected.
I like the overall look and feel of the coloring/shading in the pic with the playfield in the cabinet. It is very dark and mysterious looking.
It will be interesting to see how they blend the inherent brightness of LEDs into this theme.
Thank you for posting the pics!
I wonder how those three smaller holes in the back left of the playfield will be used. I would guess that something is going to be staged behind Smaug, unless that is there for the Smaug machanism.
Is there now a slingshot where the upper left flipper used to be? That could make for some interesting ball dynamics...

Yes
