I’m happy for all the 3.0 kids that are ranting and raving about having been at this show. It was fantastic, certainly.
But NOTHING Phish EVER does will even remotely compare to BIG CYPRESS. That was the big one. That was the one to be jealous of.
There are only two types of Phish fans. Those who were AT Big Cypress, and those who can only WISH they had been there.

That second set last night........oof. Not even a Chalkdust Torture Reprise could really save that one!!!

In other news.........I FEEL I......NEVER TOLD YOU.........THE STORY OF THE GHOST!!!!!!!!!

Fall Tour definitely had its moments but on the whole didn't leave a lot behind that'll be talked about for years to come. Here's hoping MSG helps them close out the year on a high note! I certainly had a great 2019 of Phish between Camden and Alpine Valley, and I'm hoping that MSG on the 28th and 29th will be the icing on the cake for me.

    I agree!

Will be my first visit to MSG and only doing the Sat/Sun shows. Hoping for some fun times, a few treats.
No matter what it will be a blast.

Side note: Anyone have a pair of Floors or good 100s for the 12/28 show? We are still on the hunt.

I wish phish was gone. Didn’t one of the band members get arrested in NY for fondling a child? The bass man.

No, that's "fake news" as you love to say 50 times a day...he exercised some poor judgment by taking artsy photos backstage at Jones Beach of the teenage daughter of a Hell's Angel. Pretty sure he got the shit beat out of him so his debt to society is paid. Considering how close to the ocean Jones Beach is I'd say he got off fairly easy.

I also get pretty annoyed by Phish as half the NYC pinball population is obsessed with them...Phish Phanatics are kind of like Iron Maiden fanatics in that they only like one goddamn band.

But I'd never drop into a Phish thread just to whine about Phish! Oh wait...

"Treats" huh? Well you won't have to go far. THere's usually a couple tanks rolling up and down 8th avenue.

CrazyLevi I seem to remember a Phish friend of mine telling me he's related to you.....do you know a Mike H. down in South Florida?

Really? First visit ever? That's AWESOME. You are gonna have a great time.
When the band really gets goin', and everybody in the room is having the time of their lives, take a moment and just try to stand perfectly still. That's when you can really feel the building itself dancing. It's an incredible feeling!!!

no thanks. I meant treats as in rare song bust outs.

what is the jump zone specifically? floor or anywhere in the 100s?

    #163 4 years ago

Couldn't swing MSG this year but we are doing a few nights of Moe. which we are stoked for.

    Yes.

I don't understand how he does it sober.

best way to do it IMHO!

Phish is great sober! So much to experience that drugs are just a distraction for me.
Get ripped at home on couch tour. In person shows are sober affairs for me.

I've always found I could feel it anywhere in the building.....as the entire thing is built on a floating floor, above the train station.
I will say that the effect seemed the most pronounced to me when I was in the low 100s BEHIND THE STAGE....however....that may have just been because it was 12.31.02 and people were extra super duper happy that Phish was back from the hiatus. Mmm that Piper. Thank you, Tom Hanks!

Levi > if I have time to visit one pinball place when in town... where do I go?

also, you want to have drinks and pinball on Dec 27th, (lunch time)

There's not much in Manhattan, but you could drop by Pioneers bar right near MSG before or after the show, they always have 4 late model sterns there. Right now Batman SLE (in all it's $15k glory), JP, Munsters, and Thrones.

In Brooklyn Sunshine and Jackbar are your best bets. Who knows maybe we'll do a post-phish get together at my place too, we can touch base closer to the event.

    #169 4 years ago

I will be staying in Brooklyn FWIW

    #170 4 years ago

Absolutely check out Sunshine. I'm lucky enough to be staying in Greenpoint so I'll definitely be hitting it up a couple of times.

And yeah man, get psyched for MSG. I've been to at least one show of every NYE run since '15 (and also six of the Baker's Dozen.)

    #171 4 years ago

Just scored a pair of GA for N1 on a re-re

    #172 4 years ago

I know your going to Brooklyn but if you can walk through times square after the show it's surreal.

    12/30/19 Set II was amazing.

    And RESCUE SQUAD FTW!

    Other than that, meh.

Spent the last few days re-listening to Big Cypress.
Holy hell, that was the big one! Feel fortunate to have been there to witness it in person.
Can't wait for the eventual box set, but DAMN those AUDs still sound great!!!!

    #176 4 years ago

Big Cypress had some highlights but was too slow and meandering. Hard to listen to other than for posterity.

While run was really good stuff IMHO.

N1 and 2 were really well played with just the right amount of everything.

You are certainly entitled to your "slow and meandering" opinion...they certainly took their time and were in no rush.......but if by meandering you mean convoluted or undirected, I disagree 100%.

Furthermore, I would bet money you were not in attendance, as you sound kind of salty about it, tbh.

I was there. In front row. What a show!

Well... what are you guys hitting for summer?

    #181 4 years ago

    Nothing.
First baby is due June 28.
    Hoping for maybe Vegas Halloween.

    congrats!

We are contemplating Nasheville. Drivable and looks like a cool outdoor venue.

The AC dates have been rumored for months, and I've had a friend's wedding scheduled for that weekend the whole time. Sucks that's the weekend, but can't win 'em all. Outside chance I try to make the Sunday show for that, but I'll most likely hit the two Hershey shows and that will be my summer.

AC on a beach does little for me. Sounds cool till I realized sand everywhere and not cheap.

Scored 100s for both nights of Hershey in the lotto. Very pleased with that.

A friend of mine is trying to talk me into going to Gorge and I think he's going to succeed.

    nice!

We git snunked on both Dicks and Nasheville.

Fingers crossed for onsale Dicks today

    #187 4 years ago

I'll be hitting Eugene and gorge. Lost out on Tahoe and dicks.

SpiffyRob the gorge is a must. Especially for a three night run.

    #188 4 years ago

    Dicks only for us.

Unable to secure Nasheville so the decision was made for us.

Thanks for the heads up Hilton! Loved it!

Their strongest album of 3.0 IMHO. Among their major releases I don't think there's a better jam than the one from Everything's Right.
