    Hi Everyone!

I wanted to start a post dedicated to Philadelphia-Area Pinball Leagues and Tournaments. The goal is to use this as an area to discuss the league and tournament scene in and around Philly. We'll try to take advantage of the new Pinside "Topic Indexing" feature as well.

Let's get more people out to play pinball in Philly!

Nice thread! looking forward to January when I can finally get to the Pincrossing monthly again. Might try to stop down and see what scores I can put up for the this month's selfie though.

    #5 7 years ago

Any word if Pincrossing is continuing the selfie league in 2017?

    Quoted from Philk:

I think it depends on any final changes in WPPR 5.3 and whether it completely nukes the value of the events. That being said, what do others think? I know that I enjoy visiting PinCrossing knowing there are a few targeted machines that I want to play, and it personally helps me learn those machines more in depth.

I've edited the first post to be more like an index of known tournaments and events. If others have other ones they know about (especially in the yearly tournament section) please let me know and I'll be happy to edit the list further.

    Hi Everyone,

    Results from today's PinCrossing event:

    ---------------------

A Division was won by Sam Miller on a fierce Centaur II battle over Corey Hulse. Brandon Service finished 3rd and took family bragging rights over Brian Service, who finished 4th.

Jay Robinson defeated Bill Shupp in B Division action with a final showdown on Game of Thrones.

In Selfie League, Nathaniel Gibson swept all four games to secure the win for A Division over Ken Martin, and Justin Semke won the B Division in a playoff against Bill Shupp on TX (TX TX).

Special thanks to the players from The River City Pinball League who drove out from Harrisburg to play today!

Any others? Any private leagues? Both PinCrossing and Pinball Gallery are too far away -- especially on weeknights when they are held. I live along 309 halfway between Philly and Allentown.

Not that I know of. But if you find something or want to try and tag team putting something together, let me know. I'm in the same boat just up 309 in Quakertown. The lack of pinball is driving me nuts.

Think the state of pinball in the burbs is pretty decent, sure you have to drive a little but there are games out there. There's a couple places right in Q'town!!

    #14 7 years ago

I'm in the area and they are the 2 closest leagues. Pinball Gallery is closest location to you. There are a few places to play, but only those 2 that have leagues.

In Ohio, I was in a private league for a while and we rotated to different members homes. A few of the guys had really nice collections of 15 to 20 games, so it was pinball heaven to go play their collections. I never hosted because I had only about 4 working machines at anytime, but we'd rotate taking turns providing the food/drink. We had about 20 to 25 guys in the league. Right around when I moved to PA, I think it stopped. Two of the guys really got into routing the games and so they started pushing leagues on location -- still fun, but also just as much a money making enterprise for them. There is a pinball place close to Hatfield but the guy definitely marching to the beat of a different drummer and his games are a wreck. Too bad because he has some top titles. I checked it out last year. If it was in better condition, it would be nice to host a league there. Instead, I either need to find some guys with nice private collections willing to share or some other location with enough machines. My own collection is only 4 machines -- with 2 needing some work, although I'd like to grow my collection again in the future.

Did that Pincrossing event for 7/5 get cancelled? I saw that it was no longer on the IFPA site?

Hey Phil, unfortunately we had to cancel it. After scheduling it, we found out that Railroad is going to be closed for the week for the 4th of July holiday. We may look to reschedule it because I think it's a cool format. Also, we're going to be announcing the dates for the Summer Classic soon, so I'll post the date as soon as we know it.

The first tournament of a new monthly series at Penn Skate Arcade is a week from tomorrow! If anybody has any questions about the tournament, location, games, etc. please let me know. I'm happy to help. Hope to see some of you there.

Do you have a gamelist? this is the first time I heard of Penn Skate Arcade and I'd like to visit.

Sure do. The current list is: Rocky & Bullwinkle, BMX, Blackwater 100, Domino, Escape From The Lost World, Hook, Last Action Hero, Pirates of the Caribbean, Millionaire, Playboy 35th Anniversary, Pool Sharks, Radical, Secret Service, and Vulcan.

I'll do my best to get it added to the Pinside map shortly. It's definitely a unique lineup compared to most places in the area. Lots of Bally and Data East!

Hope you can check it out soon. Just as a heads up, the arcade is only open on weekends (Friday-Sunday). The only time it is open on a weekday is for the Tuesday tournament. More info at facebook.com/pennskatearcade

I don't know how I completely missed this thread. Thanks for adding us (River City Pinball).

We officially began our League last Thursday, but we have room if anyone is still interested in joining.

You'll just take a zero for the first week, but things get broken down into divisions, so you'll definitely still have a shot at taking home a trophy and some cash.

We also hold monthly tournaments on the third Saturday of each month.

We're planning on making the trip up for it. Looking forward to playing some of those titles - don't see them very often.

    Three events this week!

Tuesday at Penn Skate Park - https://www.facebook.com/events/1938423439765620/
    *new* Wednesday Non-IFPA Three Strikes - https://www.facebook.com/events/1575165342554903/
And of course, Pinburgh! Technically not Philadelphia, but absolutely worth the trip! - http://www.replayfx.org

    #35 6 years ago

Just a recap since Penn Skate Park is a new event...

$10 to play the games all night. There is no tournament entry fee this month since it is the first tournament at this location and we want to see what turnout is like and if people are interested in buying in. There will be prizes though (and IFPA points).

Registration begins at 6:30 with the event starting at 7:00.

Lots of unique games in this collection including many that you don't frequently see in tournaments.

If there is enough interest in these monthly tournaments, a league will likely begin in the fall.

    Hope to see you there!

Wow that was fun and so nice to see well-kept examples of games you don't find in the wild often. The owner was telling me they're getting ready to blow out a wall and put even more games in there so this is a pretty neat development all around.

Thank you again Casey for your efforts putting this together.

Penn Skate Arcade's first tournament was a success. Congratulations to the top 3 (1. Jerry K., 2. emkay 3. (tie) coreyhulse and Joel Z. (Joel left before I could get him in the picture).

The champioinship belt is our traveling trophy of sorts. Hope to see everybody next month and thanks for coming.
