No, it was a better brand. Had it running for about 10 hours today and came home to burnt up motor in the basement

Well that sucks, hope it didn't smell up the basement to much.
it did. Amazon is sending me a brand new one even though it was past the 30 days. I might just put it up on ebay. Got my eye on a Thumbler Tumbler 18lb for the REALLY big metal pieces. This one worked great right up until the motor burnt out. I was using it 5 days in a row so maybe that was just too much for it since I only put a handful of pieces in at a time so they don't get mixed up for reassembly r .
Wow no kidding replacing it, that's above and beyond. That much use at a stretch should have made no difference. How much is that big one?
The big one is $220 before tax and shipping. It will fit the whole ball trough assembly in it. But how often will I ever use something of this size again, I don’t know. I just want it cause it’s big and has a better motor in it. I’m actually gonna send the old one back to the company for repair since amazon didn’t want it back
Well at least with three I’ll always have a backup lol. I might actually use all 3 of them. One for the course polish which doesn’t take as long and 2 for the fine. If I run them at the same time I can get this metal polished even faster since I’m only doing like 5 parts at a time by mech or playfield part rather than dumping them all in at once. I’m sure if I just took pictures of what metal goes with which bag of parts I could do it in one shot, but knowing me I’d either lose or mix up the parts

Yup.
Just polishing metal parts and hardware. Nothing to really take pictures of. Hopefully in a week or two I’ll be done with these small batches. Stainless parts take about 18-24 hours to polish bright
I’m glad I still have a mom and pop hardware store in town with tons of different screws and other hardware by the piece for sale because it seems like I’m there every day finding the oddbal stuff in this machine that’s stripped or worn out and bent. If only they had pinball posts I’d be golden
2 led frosted comet comfort brights for the inserts and backglass or 1 smd? I can always adjust their brightness down with the led ocd
2 led clear dome for the inserts and 2 led frosted domes for the bg. I didn't know you could adjust the brightness of the bb with ocd.

I had 4 SMD no domes in my backglass. Really made it much brighter. Had red flashers and two blue accents near the hanging man, and one on the left.
Yeah that does look nice. How about a frosted white 7 (you can cut it to make it as long as you like) led strip running down her leg on the left picture?
I want to keep the backglass darker, but have very bright flashers for the mask and possibly a pair of optix super brights for the mirror effect. If I go too bright, the phantoms face will shine through. It will be a challenge to get it just right
I played with the lights in my back glass a lot. I also used a little electrical tape near his right temple and his right jaw line so the mask is not transparent in those spots. You can see the two spots in the picture above. I used a couple of LEDs for the reflection in the mirror but actually had to pull a couple incandescents out just to get the effect perfect. I do have LEDs in the eyes and also a little tape there so they light up oval and not square.
So I bought all new nylon acorn nuts. mostly white with some black and some red. Should I buy and use silicone rubber post caps instead? Just looking at longevity and not breaking plastics and making it easier to shop without tearing up plastics. Titan has a wide variety of colors and would be easy to color match to the plastics for sure.

I color matched the post nuts and the post rubbers on mine. Looked sweet. I definitely recommend it.

Any good before & after pics of parts?
I’ll have to take some. I have a lot of “before” pics but figured these would be boring for the after but I’ll take a couple comparison shots when I get home tonight
The more I look at it the more I’m inclined to stay with original orange plasma. Mostly because of all the warm tones and golds on the backglass. Red may be too jarring. I’ll have to think it over
Now that the holidays are over it’s on to the wiring harness and all the wonderful repinning and connector replacements :/ as soon as my daughter is finished her science fair project I’ll have my workbench back.
Quoted from jboner1058:Red LED displays or plasma orange?
Yeah, the plasma orange may be a bit much. There's a ton of red on this game, so I think red is definitely better and more fitting.
Kruzman posted a couple of shots on his sale thread. Playfield just needs a little more time to cure and then sand and polish

Quoted from jboner1058:PLAYFIELDS DONE!
Any chance a playfield be available for purchase?
Quoted from jboner1058:Well there is only one right now and I’ve got $2400 into it
ouch.
Quoted from jboner1058:Yeah. I’m obviously insane
You got the bug BAD. But it's such a fine madness isn't it.
How long do you think your average restorations take? Not to this length, but I know they can take a couple of months easy if you are keeping most of the original hardware
Someone’s been on a cross country trip multiple times and has finally made its way back home. Now to figure out when the hell im gonna find time to get back on this project. Usually I get a week off for spring break but they are asking me to come in for overtime

Take the OT!!!
Quoted from MustangPaul:Take the OT!!!
Ha yeah I’m just gonna use the OT for more Phantom parts lol
Quoted from jboner1058:Ha yeah I’m just gonna use the OT for more Phantom parts lol
Yup. At one of my old jobs back in the 80's and 90's I rotated 2 weeks each shift and there was ALWAYS OT available every weekend so a few times I worked 9 weeks straight without a day off while rotating all 3 shifts. I was taking home $1200 a week. So during those 9 weeks I was taking home $10,800. Being single I was having a blast with that money.
