ahh the phantom of the opera magic mirror...the ball is screaming off the flipper up the center of the playfield and then poof! its gone where did it go? I just saw it a second ago! oh wait, it just popped out of the playfield hmmmm that was cool.

then my torsion spring broke on the magic mirror so that the ball would hit him and he would just stay open... kinda takes the "magic" out of the magic mirror. Marco is out of stock (again) and this needs to be fixed... no problem.

you can go to the hardware store and buy 2 medium sized toggle bolts (you know, the ones with the metal wings that spread out to grab the drywall) using a pair of needlenose you can dis assemble toggles and remove small spring (I used 2 springs, one on each side of magic mirror door) remove magic mirror assembly from game, slide one spring on each side. reinstall and use needlenose to bend one end of the spring to remain stationary and bend the other end to fit behind magic mirror door and your back in business... not only is this fix done for less than $1, but no need to wait for parts to arrive.

sorry I cant add pictures because I traded out my phantom a few weeks ago.

hope this helps someone

Wish you could show pictures of this fix.. Mine is missing the magic mirror and I can't find a replacement for it anywhere..

are you missing the entire mirror with brackets, just the mirror, or just the springs?

#4 5 years ago

I'll take a picture later.. I think I am missing most of it, but there is a bag of parts inside the machine.

Did you contact Pinball Resource? I just got some POTO parts from him that no one else had in stock (entire hinge assembly for under the Organ)...

Does anyone have a picture of what the magic mirror is supposed to look like behind the mirror itself? Still confused on what I'm missing on mine. Thanks!

Yea those springs are hard to come by, the OP had a good alternative to resolving it .... What I'm having a hard time finding its the decal for the magic mirror

#13 4 years ago

Decal is at Little Shop Of Games, Hey Darcot where in Germany did you order the stock spring?

Not sure what you ordered? I looked up Magic Mirror Target Return Spring 265-5011-00 From Manual and it says not available.

How the hell do you fit the magic mirror spring correctly? I’m just rebuilding a phantom after w strip down. It was working fine before so I know im just doing something wrong. The photo I took doesn’t show it well enough and the pic on this thread doesn’t really show how it should be fitted ☹️

I find the bend on the bracket it what is important. In the last picture in the thread you can see on the right side the bracket is bent forward to touch the mirror. It should be bent a bit more forward that is what prevents the bottom of the flap from going to far forward. The top hits the bracket, its kinda like a seesaw. If you bend the bracket right you can put a little extra wind in the spring or do whatever to push on the mirror because it cant go too far.
