This one has me stumped. I recently picked up a POTO and the left slingshot wasnt working. Leaf switches jacked up, actuator bent, and the coil didnt fire. I replaced the entire assembly. Now the leaf’s register, but they are adding credits to a free play, and the coil doesnt fire still. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

In switch test does the leaf switch register correctly or is it registering as coin? Bad diodes can cause the switch to register incorrectly. Does the coil fire in coil test?

Take a look at page 22 in your manual. Go into the switch test. Activate the left sling switch (21). What number shows on the screen? Double check the wiring, left sling should have a white/green and a green/brown.

My wires are white/ green. White/orange

I think I see what I have done. The “new assembly” that was supposed to be an exact match isnt. There is no leaf switch for the coil on the new one that was on the old. Looks like I will rob new parts and redo the old one and try again.

Looks like they might be white/green and green/brown, which is the center coin slot.

Yes you are right. Someone has this thing wired all screwy

I have all the connections unsoldered now and the correct parts where they need to be. Now to just figure out what wires go where haha

The white wire with your ? Was a jumper from one leaf switch to the other

Look at the switch matrix chart. Column 3 should have a green/orange wire going from connector CN8 (CPU schematic) daisy chained through all the switches (order doesn't matter): Left outlane, left return, right outlane, right return, left slingshot, right slingshot, right spinner.

The other wires on those switches are listed in the respective rows on the switch matrix chart.

If it's all hacked up though... the wire colors may not match. I can't think of a good way the green/brown wire would get under the playfield. All the switches that use it should be on the coin door or the tilts.

Could be I'm seeing different colors due to camera/lighting/faded/dirty wires. Sometimes cleaning them with a cotton swab makes it more obvious what color they really are. Regardless, the wire at CN8, pin 3 should be going to all the column 3 switches.

It is a green/orange wire. So it appears to be the correct one that is called for

A helpful step would be go into switch test, then disconnect the two connectors that go to the playfield. Use a jumper wire to simulate switch closings. If it still reports the wrong switch you know you have a board problem.

When I did a full restore I bought a brand new assembly as well that I couldn’t use. Almost all the sites list the “equivalent” part but Monday night football, phantom, playboy35, and robocop all used unique parts for everything from bumper caps to mechs. I ended up having to weld my old one and polish is up
