Indeed. Here's my response from that thread:

Casual players wouldn't notice it. Folks in the industry told me what an "a-ha!" moment it was to have the action button start a game, because so many noobs can't see the giant backlit START button on front of the game, even after putting money in the coin door.

Pretty sure an operator posted a video of someone pressing the action button to start a game, again to launch the ball, and continuing to smack it, trying to flip. They had no idea there were buttons on the side. This is the level of location ignorance Stern has to overcome. The QR camera has to be in your face.

(I know, casual players won't have an insider account or a QR code anyway. The point is to get them in the door.)

    Quoted from pinmister:

How is a bright ass light coming from the coin door not in your face?

Is this a trick question? Uh, because I'm not two feet tall. Did you take that photo from a standing position?

    Quoted from pinmister:

I seriously scratch my head at what the difference would be from apron to coin door for people.

Because it's not your business to fathom how unobservant the average person can be. Stern's job is catering to them.

    Quoted from RazerX:

So they'll be completely dumbfounded when they walk up to a game that doesn't have an action button.

Sad but true. I think it was Josh Sharpe who told me that some players literally didn't know what to do after putting money in, until Stern added the action button.

I guarantee someone will make a kit to move it to the coindoor

    Yup, already done.

    Quoted from DNO:

This is such a non-issue, what are we going to try next “petition to remove the coin door”?

What's funny is there was a near-riot when Stern dared to remove one coin slot from the Tron LE coin door. Which is actually a bit less of an eyesore? The real issue is fear of change.

(I know operators need two slots. I'm talking about all the people who were just mad it didn't match their other games.)

    It's not that easy Don

Funniest thing in the thread so far.

Epilepsy warning is a bigger eyesore to me, but we all got used to it.

    Quoted from pinmister:

I was thinking where could it be placed other than apron or coindoor where you would not see the light(you could turn slightly sideways)-cup holder or sides of legs?

Guys, it is not. that. bright. I hate distracting light sources, play my GZ all the time, and I literally never notice it. Like, it's hard for me to even imagine/recall what it looks like on the apron. I'm completely oblivious to it.

It honestly makes me hesitant to want to buy a new game with this crap on it. Starting to look towards the classics again.

Sounds like a good solution to your problem. Stern didn't spend years developing IC to change it for one guy who started this thread and has 45 of the 165 posts in it.
