I believe you are correct on the search loops in the castle. However, just to be clear, Dorothy has to be captured before you can knock down the doors and start the multiball. The first time I hit the green search loop and saw the RESCUE reset, it ticked me off, but once I figured out the strategy of locking the virtual balls, I thought it was a great addition to the gameplay.
