Quoted from AlexF:

That is a neat feature. Metro I think is the last to use it. Gusher would be the first. Sea Wolf is another that had it. I'm not sure if there are any others.

I think there's one other; 1960 Williams "Music Man" if I'm not mistaken. I'd love to find a "Metro".

Quoted from mof:

I'd like to know about a few EM firsts:
1. first inlanes?
2. first 3" flippers?
3. first spinner?
4. first horeshoe?

According the the IPDB:
1.(1965) 'Bank-A-Ball' was the first pinball machine produced with flipper return lanes, which are wireforms that allow the ball to roll behind the slingshot and towards a waiting flipper. According to the book All About Pinball, Paradise and its add-a-ball version Pleasure Isle were the first games designed to have return lanes. However, Gottlieb rescheduled the production of Bank-A-Ball so that it could be released first.
2. (1971 "Play Ball") First Gottlieb game to use 3 inch flippers bats.
3. (1963 "Swing Along") According to the flyer, this was the first machine to feature spinning targets.
Not according to the IPDB:
4. My best guess is that it was worn by the first "hore".

In another thread, someone mentioned 1947 Williams "Torchy". It has under-playboard electromagnetic coils which alter the trajectory of the ball. This feature is now often used in modern games, but as far as I know, this was the first appearance of this type of device.

Quoted from zarco:

Another is Wms TORCHY which may be the first with under the PF electromagnets.

I mentioned that in post #58 above.

Quoted from MarkG:

I think '69 Bally On Beam is the only game to have a "Swivel-Type Ball-Ejector Assembly". It's a ball return kicker that can be swiveled to return the ball to the playfield from the out hole instead of sending it to the shooter lane.

Bally "King Rex" also has such a feature.
