Oh boy....another c list band with no where near enough fans to justify a pin....same as the other guy suggesting Lita Ford...not gonna happen
Oh hell yeah I would have one of these but just don't see it happening. They are not really that type of band. You might have more luck with a U2 pin.
Quoted from cosmokramer:Oh boy....another c list band with no where near enough fans to justify a pin...
C list??? Don't think so
Quoted from mickthepin:C list??? Don't think so
I was gonna say d list but remembered that is reserved for Creed and the like
Quoted from DylanFan71:I'd be all over this too. Never happen, though. The Who, maybe.
I would guess the chances of a Who pin being made at some point are very high
I see the popularity of Pearl Jam as a band, but can't see how it would translate to a pinball machine in any way? Jeremy multiball?
Licensing would be a nightmare but a 'grunge' themed pinball would be way cool. Plenty of big names from the 90's grunge scene would be awesome. Base the machine around a festival type concert and work your way through the various bands. I'd be up for that.

+1 , next someone will say twisted sister... wait for it shouldn't be long.
Quoted from mojozone:I would be in for this. Believe me there is enough fans.
Probably the same number as Stone Temple Pilots.
As a reminder Pearl Jam is popular enough to sustain a full time pearl jam exclusive station on XM radio that has been there for at least seven years. Also, Pearl Jam does a very active tour circuit and just came out with a new album.
Personally, I'd prefer Nirvana but I would consider a Pearl Jam pin depending on the songs (their old stuff needs to be in there obviously).
Quoted from Magic_Mike:Probably the same number as Stone Temple Pilots.
Just a snipped from their wikipedia page . . . saying Pearl Jam is a C list band does not match up the facts in my personal view:
To date, the band has sold over 31.5 million records in the U.S,[2] and an estimated 60 million worldwide.[3][4] Pearl Jam has outlasted and outsold many of its contemporaries from the alternative rock breakthrough of the early 1990s, and is considered one of the most influential bands of the decade.[5] Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic referred to Pearl Jam as "the most popular American rock & roll band of the '90s.
Quoted from o-din:Soundgardens music would lend itself better to a pinball game, but I probably wouldn't buy it.
Are we calling our for a merged Temple of the Dog theme'd pin?
Quoted from TigerLaw:Are we calling our for a merged Temple of the Dog theme'd pin?
We're calling out for something that ain't gonna happen.
I think that Stern is playing it smart and safe by sticking *only* with bands in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Just saw their career retrospective on VH1 last night. One could argue PJ was more popular outside of the States than in them. World wide appeal like 80s hair bands, just a decade later and still relevant. New disc drops next week, I believe. Regardless, the band members would probably object to the commercialization that a pin would represent. A Pearl Jam pin could be nice; even more so than Iron Maiden. Code would have to be complete.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Are we calling our for a merged Temple of the Dog theme'd pin?
Lol, it would just play hunger strike over and over
Maybe things are different in the U.S but here in Australia Pearl Jam are about on par of popularity as Red Hot Chilly Peppers. Don't know if that means anything but I would rate Chilly's as an A list band and Pearl Jam the same.
Dare I even mention a 'gansta' themed machine. Nah, I probably shouldn't. The only gangsta music I think I could ever like would be Body Count. Saw them live down here in Australia back in the day and their mere presence on stage was intimidating. One of the best gigs I have ever been to as far as a 'show' went.
Let's remember that sales are what drives Stern to produce a certain title. They won't build it if they don't think that they can sell it. Just because a band is popular and has sold X # of albums doesn't mean that they would make for a successful pin title.
Successful titles ("ACDC, Metallica, GNR")have every aspect working for them in their favor. Miss just one thing and you end up with a disaster (sales numbers) like (The Rolling Stones, Elvis). Very popular with music fans but popularity did not transfer over to high pin sales and therefore manufactuors took a big financial hit on them. Because of this, they will be reluctant to make another music pin for any band that is less than a "Super Star" / Rock Roalty calibur group. Therefore no Pearl Jam, No Iron Maiden, and no Queen pins anytime soon. Sorry to say this, but it's just my humble opinion. I for one would buy a "Queen" pin, love the band. I also think Iron Maiden would sell a lot overseas. But neither would sell well enough to justify the risk of producing it in the hopes that it does well. That's a shame because I think we are missing out on a lot of good titles because of this. Manufacturers are not willing to take risks anymore. They want sure things and in today's business climate, I really don't blame them. One mistake might be fatal to a company. They need to choose wisely.
I hear the sirens saying no. This bands best album was Ten. Trendy alternative crap for the most part hippy crap.

+1 (I already suggested this in the Iron Maiden thread). As long as you are not including Pearl Jam in a grunge themed pin - Cobain himself admitted that he hated Pearl Jam and that they had no business being included in the Grunge discussion.
Quoted from beatmaster:next someone will say twisted sister... wait for it shouldn't be long.
EASY! I already suggested this one too... - though I thought an 80's hair band pin including TS would be the way to go....
As I said in my original post
Quoted from mickthepin:Oh hell yeah I would have one of these but just don't see it happening. They are not really that type of band. You might have more luck with a U2 pin.
I just am speaking back on the idea that Pearl Jam is a c grade band.
Ok... So a non titled music theme???? Pick a bunch of different bands, make the pinball machine theme be a 80s juke box since they all are converted to Internet juke boxes now anyway still seen in bars.. The play filed toys are made up of something from each band...???? Should I go talk to jack lol
Song list starts here
1. Jayhemmy schpokan.........schpokan............klahasplay
2. Ebenflow ho, tossed around like fortify heed
Quoted from beatmaster:+1 , next someone will say twisted sister... wait for it shouldn't be long.
Must be some elderly folks here disconnected from society. Pearl Jam was never, and is not "c" list. Ten was 13x platinum, no ACDC album was even half of that. If you think they suck, fine, but don't be delusional.
Oooooh!
This would be a great idea, but I think the call outs would be incomprehensible and the sounds would be distorted. At least if they kept it accurate to the band.
And I LIKE Pearl Jam. Expect the new sirens song. But I digress...
Chris
They may not be selling at platinum levels anymore, but at least Pearl Jam has stayed true to themselves and their fan base. And since when has album sales been indictave of quality of music? Miley Cyrus sells records, does that mean she's talented? Metallica hasn't written anything good since the 80's AJFA IMHO. Black album was the beginning of the end. Songs like One and Fade to Black vs the crap they've been putting out for the past 20 years... Don't even get me started. Lou Reed?
Quoted from ashburton:Pearl Jam was never, and is not "c" list. Ten was 13x platinum, no ACDC album was even half of that.
Ugh... The music knowledge on display in this thread is breathtaking. First off, Back in Black is the second best selling album OF ALL TIME and dwarfs the sales of Ten. It went 22x platinum in the United States alone.
But you are correct that Pearl Jam has never been C-list. Love them or hate them they're an A-list band all the way.
Quoted from krupa:The music knowledge on display in this thread is breathtaking.
Yes, Pearl Jam may have sold a lot of albums and amassed a lot of fans, but Eddie Vedder was never as good a front man as Andrew Wood. IMO. And Brian Johnson will never compare to Bon Scott.
who?
Never head of pearl Jam
Personally I'd prefer music theme based on these below but many will beg to differ
Led zeppelin
Pink floyd
Def leopard
Dr dre

Wish he would've been around when "grunge" exploded. I think things would've played out a bit differently.

He may have been the reason grunge exploded.

Music knowledge huh?
Pretty sure it was the fourth.....
I guess it depends where you look....

Fourth in the states. 2nd worldwide I think.
But either way it's certainly a lot more than half the sales of Ten.

Anyone notice the pinball machines at 0.59? Haha.
Guys- The two greatest rock-themed pins haven't even been made yet, The Beatles and Pink Floyd. You have to not only have great music for a pin, but there has to be imagery in the music and lyrics, and themes that make for good toys, modes, or playfield art. The Beatles and Pink Floyd are the best two mainstream groups with mass appeal to fit the bill.
