Yes, it is.
But...I have also been in a room staring at a pin with PDI glass and one with regular glass and had people say that they didn't really see a difference. I actually thought that they were joking at first, and I started laughing, only to learn that they were serious.
I think the improvement is nothing less than remarkable myself.
I agree with Mr68 all the way on this one.
I'm one of those people who would upgrade to PDI glass over a color DMD!
