i thought the Galaga / Ms Pac did sell. but i am probably mistaken. Great Show as always. Great Games Even better people. Loved hanging out with my friends. Loved Guardians, and Iron Maiden. Got to play all the other new games, Alice Coper, Houdini, and Pirates of the Caribbean. That DE Simpsons was NICE and a good price. Wish i had the funds. Many thanks to the organizers and the vendors. Cant wait til next year...

    #252 5 years ago

    I bought Contra...good year lol

As usual, a lot to love about PatZ. I went with my 4-year-old son and we had a blast.

Couldn't believe that Tommy and Daane let their gorgeous Fathom out in the free play floor the entire weekend:

    IMG_20180421_154047 (resized).jpgIMG_20180421_154047 (resized).jpg

^^^Just an absolute masterful restoration job. Well deserving of Best in Show.

Also have to send out big shouts to Scott for bringing his Rockola "World Series":

    IMG_20180421_142846 (resized).jpgIMG_20180421_142846 (resized).jpg

I met Scott virtually right before the show and he mentioned that he'd be bringing "some old baseball game". Ha-ha! I figured that meant a pitch 'n' bat from the 60's or 70's. Little did I know what Scott really meant is that he was bringing THE old baseball game. I'm not sure attendees really knew what glory Scott had hauled out to the show, but I can assure you the kiddos did. My son wasn't the only tike obsessed with this mechanical engineering tour de force. When we got home my wife asked what his favorite game was and my son responded, "the one that was my size." Scott, thanks for entrusting your amazing collection to the public and for keeping these games PLAYABLE!

Finally, while I could wax lovingly about more games, how the auction run, or the relaxed environment of PatZ plenty, at the end of the day it's all about the friends in the hobby:

    IMG_20180421_144717 (resized).jpgIMG_20180421_144717 (resized).jpg

Big shouts to all my homies I managed brief conversations with while catching up to my little dude. It was so nice to see everyone and introduce my big boy to you again. I think it's safe to safe the strapped-to-my-chest days are over.

    Long live PatZ!

    #254 5 years ago

Mr Claytor, sorry i missed you, was hoping to at least say hello. Catch you at the next show. shane...Also good no more strapped to the chest...

    The Joker Poker was $170.
Due to a last second, STOP THE HAMMER, bid of $160.
    Pretty funny, John almost choked.
It needs boards but we should have it back to play next year.

    #256 5 years ago

My first time attending.........a ton of fun....very spacious.....thanks to all for putting it on and bringing the games! See ya next year!!

    #257 5 years ago
    Quoted from Puffdanny:

SuAnn's cookies are reason enough to return next year

    Very good indeed!

    #258 5 years ago

I think the Pacman game sold privately after the auction. We were very close to the reserve on it during the bidding so I think they worked it out among themselves.

The Cleopatra glass went for $10 and the Lightning glass for $25.

Thanks to Ron, Marcus, Matt, Phil and SuAnn for helping make the auction happen again for our 9th year of doing it. I'm looking forward to our 10 year milestone next year.

    Another great year.
Thank everyone and The Harmon's whom always do a great job!

did the display's work, that was one of the things i would have been most worried about.

Don't know yet. Not too worried, I've got spares. We haven't gone wrong at the PATZ auction. No fees so buyer and seller have to meet. It's a good crowd. 9 years ago we bought a Countdown for $25 out of the first auction - again, no boards. We fixed it up and take it back for free play every year since.

as long as you have spares, no biggie, i was doing the math if they were bad, and you have to buy boards and displays. This coming from a fellow Joker Poker owner. Good luck on it, can't wait to see it next year.

That Fathom was gorgeous and played amazing. Thanks for sharing that. Definitely a game on my radar now. Not sure I’ll ever find one but a great game.

    #264 5 years ago

Absolutely love the Zoo show...and this one was one of my favorites.

It was great being able to try out games I hadn't seen in person yet (Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, Houdini, JJP POTC, and GoTG). Overall a GREAT selection of games....so thanks to all who helped make the show fantastic.

And, as always, great to catch up with all of the awesome people I don't get to see all the time.

It was also nice being able to play a game where I got to shoot a lion in the face with a peanut gun. It's not every day that you get that experience.

It depends on when you would like to start the "hernia days."

Great pic of the kids. Parker lit up as soon as he recognized Owen at the show...ran over to give him a hug.

Until you realize this was a zoo for animals with peanut allergies and your job was to euthanize them with tasty treats. So sad.

Here's the audits from the show:

    Fathom: 465 plays
    EATPM: 377 plays

    Nicely done everybody!

    #268 5 years ago

We had a good time at the show and enjoyed playing the pins that people brought. We never saw a Spiderman with a colorDMD before and that looked great! We spent a few hundred on some "stuff" from vendors there - always good if we can catch a deal or special show pricing on "stuff" we want to get eventually anyway. That alone made it worth the trip! Thanks to Abel for bringing the Houdini, JJPOTC, and DI too.

One request for the people putting on the show next year. Please post a sign of requesting pinball etiquette at or near the entrance that includes playing one game per player at a time. There were a handful of people playing 3 or 4 player games that "likely" knew better and kept seeing them do it. We would mention rather loudly behind them that it wasn't proper etiquette, but I think they didn't care. If they didn't know, they probably thought that we were just complainers. If we have a "show etiquette" sign to reference so that we have something to back us up when confronting them, that would help us out to police others. They post a sign at the front door of the VFW show and have people patrolling to also keep an eye on that and that seems to work out well. I think a few people came in from the other shows out of curiosity also and likely don't know that etiquette. Just a suggestion to help avoid conflict. Thanks!

This is not a real big show, make an index card size sign and place it on EVERY machine. There were clowns doing this at MGC and it pissed me off because people were waiting to play.

If someone does that, I just go from the other side of the row and unplug the machine.

Always fun to watch them flip the power switch a few times and walk away in disgust.

    #271 5 years ago

The Iron Maiden in Rock914 's booth for his amazing lighting accessories had 328 plays. I have to admit I was very happy to have no reports of issues with the game at all while it was there.

I over-heard people talking amonst themselves that someone tried to play a second game from scratch on JJPOTC with a long line and a there was a small uprising over there in line to stop him from plunging again. If people really don't know, I understand, but they need to get the message on their way into ALL of these shows ... in my opinion.

Some may have been worried they came over from the adjacent gun show... As always, another great time at PATZ, a show I always look forward to attending.

The Tron at that booth played excellent also, especially the external sound system with the lights.

    #275 5 years ago

Love to hear the play counts! My son and I bring 7 - 10 games each year (we had 7 this year). Nothing fancy, basically old classics, one an EM. Our challenge is always to make it through the show. This year the Flash Gordon left flipper EOS wires decided they were going to be brittle and broke, twice. Not a big deal had the soldering iron. The Paragon lower right flipper broke the holding coil tab with plastic completely off the coil about 2:45pm on Sat. With the auction at 3pm we elected to let it go so we were down 1 game at the end. A couple stuck balls and a loose lane guide wire but otherwise they played pretty solid the whole time. Great time! I'll have play counts in the next couple days when I get a chance to unload the trailer.

My Blue Chip had 400+ plays on it as well, though it was in the Friday daily which accounted for most of it. The old girl held up though!

That was a workaround after one of the preamps on the board flaked out I built a self powered stand alone sound system and ran it off line level coming from the remaining amp. Necessity is the mother of invention.

That game was great. I greatly appreciated the opportunity to play it. Thanks

Prison City Pinball League will be bringing games as usual for the free play area. The list so far is:
    Star Wars DE
    Diner
    Vector
    Barb Wire
    Tri-Zone
    World Cup
Raven and Fish tales may also make the trip.
I challenge another league to meet or equal the games we are taking.

Loved the Guardians and the others you brought. You are really making me want a GoTG. I know the one that was there was a Pro with some mods, do you mind me asking what all the mods were? I know the powder coated legs and rails, but what else. it played great.

    RGP Still exists??!

Spent a short time there Friday. Thanks to everyone who brought games. I was especially excited to play Alice Cooper, Pirates of the Caribbean (JJ version), and Iron Maiden. Love our local show and all who make it possible. The Fathom was gorgeous. Simpsons Pinball Party was the most beautiful I've ever seen. There was also a [what appeared to be] an old EM Bally completely restored (near the tournament area) that was BEAUTIFUL.

    Thank you!

I put a note on it Friday afternoon about the left flipper not working and shut it off hope that was appropriate

My Sinbad had 518 plays from the show. Held up great, only needed to replace a fuse. Overheard many compliments on how it looked and played. Thanks.

    #287 5 years ago

I didn't check how many plays were on the Tron. Nice to see it got lots of love... Now it's getting a much needed shop job. YAY!

I think the only mod is the powder coating. Maybe super bands on the flippers if you want to call that a mod. The game was pretty much new condition for the show. Someone else had told me how great it played compared to another on they had played on route.

Not too many plays on the DM or NF but they made it without credit dots. I even managed to do a quick backbox LED upgrade.
Now, they're going down for some mild refubs. Excited to see how they turn out!

He put in a shaker motor on Day 2, I believe.

GoTG is super high on my want list now.

He's actually one of the biggest, and greatest advertisement for a moderated forum. I know many who left RGP because of him.

Although, hey...I do happen to know many people with vaginas that I really like. That alone doesn't make you intolerable.

    It's something else...defective.

    #299 5 years ago

OK. Got the trailer unloaded and the game back in the room. Meter counts for Fri + Sat are: Countdown: 196, Paragon: 243, Firepower: 148, Sorcerer: 310, Astronaut: 246, Meteor: 210 and Flash Gordon: 226

Pete, super high on mine as well. I had the pleasure of playing a 4 player game with Julie, Marcus and Ryan on Friday, Ryan kicked our arses, set the high score. Also everytime I saw you Saturday with your little girl on your shoulders, it made me smile, almost as big as hers was. Reminds me of when mine was that small. Enjoy every minute of it. Also check the milkman, she's too cute to come from you .
