Here are some more pics from machines that came in today or vendors who showed up today. It is also possible I missed them from yesterday OR these are duplicates from yesterday. I'll take pictures Saturday as I see new stuff.

I might miss stuff in the auction (as I will be helping John and the gang) so feel free to post auction pics too. Saturday is a whirlwind of stuff flying around the show so feel free to post in real-time here too.

    And now...the pics!

I just want to say thanks to everyone that came out to the show and made it what it is again this year and I'm already looking forward to seeing you all again at the 18th annual PATZ in 2017. Also a special THANK YOU to all of the SaturDayhuff auction staff that helped to pull the auction off without a hitch and another thank you to Phil and his son (who's name I forget right now) for lending us the PA system each year, I really appreciate your guy's efforts and let me know what T-shirt size's you guys wear and I'll get them made up for you for next year. Yes the auction staff was sporting some new swag this year and hopefully someone got a picture of it to post.
Auction results will be posted soon I'm sure.

Thanks also goes out to Kevin and his staff for all there tireless efforts in making the show run smoothly, especially the tall guy that sits for hours at the large overhead door...your awesome!! Also to Scott and Bill (and I'm sure there were others) that helped us unload and set up tables on Thursday morning.

Thank you to all those that made a purchase in my booth and also to those that bought cookies to help raise money for SuAnn's road trip to go see Steven King, you made her very happy !!

Once again it was a great show and it wouldn't be possible without all the great people that make it come together each year. Your efforts are much appreciated !!

    Thanks again,

There were a few new pins that showed on Saturday! All in all, there were lots to play and not a lot of lines around any one machine (other than The Hobbit...so cool)!

Well John beat me to it but I also want to express my thanks to everyone who made PATZ happen. This was our first show and it has really set the bar high. The whole family had an amazing time these past two days. My little one is still bouncing around wanting to play more pinball. Also thanks to everyone I met from pinside and elsewhere who were more than willing to let me pick their brains. Thank you for your patience and guidance to a pin noob such as myself. This is truly a wonderful community. I apologize for any time I ran off from a conversion to chase down the kido who couldn't seem to figure out what game he wanted to stay at lol. I would have loved to spend more time just talking shop with everyone.

A special thanks to those who I purchased pins from for the same reasons noted above. They are home safe and just taking a break from unloading them now. Also huge Thank you to Todd for letting me get pictures of the boards in his Alien Poker and to Dayhuff for not getting annoyed with my complete lack of knowledge on the subject.

Hats off to you all and look forward to crossing paths with each of you again in the future. Feel free to contact me if anyone wants to get together for some pins and beer.

    Saturdayhuff Auction Action!!!

    image_(resized).jpgimage_(resized).jpg

Nice work, as always. Big thanks to John and crew for spearheading the auction. Had a lot of fun watching my artwork get bid on. Yancy for the threepeat!!!

(BTW, in my mad dash to find Yancy and congratulate him post-bidding, I rushed past a bunch of very nice folks saying very nice things to me about the artwork. Sorry about my bee-line but my wonderful son was in a state of needing to go. Ha-ha!)

Finally, more thanks to Kevin for putting on such a great show. I love having this to come back to year after year. Keep it up!!!

As many have said, thanks to all for their hard work, Kevin and his crew for the untold hours and effort they put in to have a great show. To John and his crew for the great auction, a Tron for $800.00, and that crazy seller with the no reserve on the Attack from mars and the vids . Also to the great vendors, especially Terry at Pinball Life who let me place an order Thursday night for him to bring on Friday. Great Pop selection as always from Mr. Soda Pop. And also all the people who i bugged and questioned about my issues with Joker Poker. Hopefully next year it will stay running the whole show. I would like to at least get a consideration for a trophy (can't get that if it isn't running). And thanks to Bcgameguide for his great pics from the show. Can't wait til next year. Oh and cant forget Ryan for his great shirts and posters.

That's Frank, and yes, he was awesome.

My Super Soccer had a small hiccup at the show late Friday night--thanks to the nice person who texted me and also turned it off. Got it working again Saturday morning.

Thanks to all who brought games, and especially Rob--was that 5 games you brought? Sounded like a 1-person operation to get them there (and out of the basement).

    #222 7 years ago

Another great show,Thanks Kevin.I would also like to thank Scott and everyone else that helped me set up. John auctioning was great,He might have missed his calling.Everyone is so friendly at this show and It's like that every year.

Thanks for the shout out John. Just paying back the November hospitality!

As always had a great time as a volunteer, meeting new folks, helping unload/load/set up games, etc. My back and feet don't like it at the end of the 3 days but you know I'll be back next year.

Also, congrats to Rock914 on picking up that really nice Dr. Dude and immediately breaking the backglass!
One more thing to make the show memorable.
(Good news, it was tempered so it broke into a million harmless pieces and no one got hurt. Also, its just plain glass with a mylar translite which appeared undamaged, so easily replaceable.)

BTW, after popping the glass, Chris immediately loaded it into our van, where we promptly brought it home for "storage".

    dd_(resized).JPGdd_(resized).JPG

I'd like buy him a sheet of glass to say thanks for the loaner. Any tips? Is this usually tempered glass? Is the size of the glass the exact size of the translite?

I'm home and the games are unloaded. Had a great time from Thursday to Saturday eve. Nice to have been off my feet for the bulk of Sunday.

Many thanks to go around. To Kevin and staff for hosting, to the Harmon family who put on a fantastic tournament, to John, Marcus and the gang for the SaturDayhuff auction, to Mr. Sodapop for introducing me to "Cock n Bull Ginger Ale." I forgot to buy that six pack!

I was pleased with the turnout for the free play floor. 90+ machines. Thank you to Abel Electronics for the Hobbit...set to free play no less. That game looks and sounds fantastic.

And a final thank you to my group, the Grand Rapids Pinball League. We turned out in force this year and I believe set the bar higher as far as games brought in. If I forgot someone's machine let me know:

    -The Walking Dead (tournament)
    -Tag Team (tournament)
    -Shrek (tournament)
    -World Cup Soccer 94 (tournament)

Apologies to anyone who missed out on playing Sinbad after I blew it up. It had a small issue Friday afternoon, which I of course MacGuyvered into a total breakdown. Thanks to everyone else for bringing games and actually keeping them up & running. Feels like no one brought a level this year, or maybe some folks put one front leg on the back, so I "courtesy leveled" as many games as I could.

    #229 7 years ago

Those SaturDayhuff staff shirts were awesome.

Those guys deserve them. Every year, that crew gives it their all, and are a big part of what makes PATZ so awesome.

Anyone who ever lived through the era of SuperAuctions and USAA just HAS to appreciate such a shenanigan-free, no-fee auction.

    Thanks again!

The games DID seem to be better leveled Sat. afternoon than they were on Fri. morning but it didn't really sink in until I read your post, so thanks for that, Yancy. Thanks to Kevin and crew for making it happen again, not to mention the vendors and the people that brought games. Special thanks to the Grand Rapids Pinball League. You guys represented big time!

Let's do this again next year!

    #231 7 years ago

someone should have asked, i had a level sitting on top of my Joker Poker. Yancy, you should have gotten with me, with JP being down, could have loaned you what you needed off the game, if i didn't have it in the parts boxes . A beautiful game by the way. Does anyone have the tournament website, i want to see where i stood in the grand scheme of things. If its still active.

Also, thanks to all on here who helped us with volunteering, bringing games and playing! Sooooo many people helped us out when we needed it. I can't stress enough how important your help was. Without you guys we wouldn't have the tournament we had. Even the people who only played, you helped us by playing! People are always so nice at this show (for the most part at least). Thanks to all again!

Since PATZ took first place in the online poll for PAPA schedule, how do you think this will change things for next year? I know it is a year away, but what things does this mean for us? I see it as an amazing opportunity, but we should prep for it...by...I dunno. Your thoughts?

I'm happy to bring my streaming gear for next year so we can broadcast some of the games.

Just a comment, it would be great if you didn't schedule this on the same weekend as Passover. I couldn't make it because my mother-in-law would have never stopped nagging me about it. And, of course, a RFM sold at auction when I can't make it!

Just so you know, we won the vote for this years to be included. So this past weekend was the PAPA circuit event.

The process to get a circuit event again goes like this.... PAPA will send a survey in the next month or two for our event to all who played. At the end of the year they figure out how all 16 events in the circuit rank. The 8 events with the best survey results get in for next year automatically. The bottom 4 are automatically booted off the circuit for the next year and can reapply one calendar year later. The 9th-12th place survey results will go back on the voting ballet immediately.

It is very important that if you liked the event, to give it a great review. Last year the cutoff on the surveys was something like 92% positive (don't know the exact metric used).

At this point I'm just recovering from this crazy weekend. If I run it again next year, I will be utilizing Tommy's streaming equipment (as long as his offer still stands by then). Last year we had horrible WIFI in the place that we had to pay for. Luckily the venue opened up a private WIFI connection for us this year. This would have made streaming possible, but I didn't know this would happen until we got there.

When it comes to improving for next year, I would love to hear ideas from all of you if you have them.

Good news, it was tempered so it broke into a million harmless pieces and no one got hurt.

I'm not sure it was totally "harmless." It took me a good 10-15 minutes to sweep that shit up.

I "courtesy leveled" as many games as I could.

That is some funny shit, right there.

yeah, i think that was my worst game, or Walking dead, i don't really care for that one either.

It ended up all good though. Yancy & Mags I lost to ended up in the finals taking 3 & 4th...way to represent!

Glad to hear that Chris is keeping up the tradition that I started two shows ago. Had I known this happened I would have helped him clean it up to return the favor from when I did.

Almost cracked the top 100, probably should have played 2 different games in the tourney but just played Meteor.

Finally got set back up from the show.

Diner had 374 plays on the meter. Not bad for 2 days!

I think Contact received around 300, based on the adding credits.

Thanks to everyone that came out. And thanks to Kevin & company for putting it on.

Thanks for bringing Contact! I'd never played one that worked well. And it was close to the tourney area, so I could pop over there and stay warmed up between rounds. Unique game.

I need to get in the software on my PacMan and try to see how many plays it had, wasn't smart enough to look at the meter before I brought it. Almost every time I looked over that way someone was playing it. I'm really glad it was well liked.

Diner was a lot of fun never played that one before! Family is loving Contact. It was the last one unloaded and my kid kept asking where is the one with the swinging thing I want to play.
