All my favorite Lawlor titles have been licensed themes. Hope an original concept works out for him.
Quoted from Strange:All my favorite Lawlor titles have been licensed themes. Hope an original concept works out for him.
Don't like Whirlwind, Safe Cracker or Gophers?
I am curious if it will be a wide body or not?
Wont this be the first non-licensed theme in a while? Nothing wrong with licensed themes, but this is refreshing for a change.

Its been said Pats game will be a standard body, not widebody. JJP can produce both on their line.
I guess this wont be in production for another year or so.

It has also been said, Pat designs games blind folded while riding on a saturn V rocket......
Is there a tentative release date for Pat's new game? I am awaiting this game unlike any other since i got into this hobby.

No, it's been said it wasn't a widebody...nothing has been said about it being standard width/length.
It's funny how things are said then contradicted by another "he said this to me". So, I minus well interject here with what was told to me from Jack during his open house. And I quote, "Pat's game will be a wide body and it will be announced around Valentine's Day and would start being produce six months from then".

Hmmm, well I guess it changed. It was hinted at one point that it would neither be widebody or standard. Fine by me...Pat makes excellent widebody games (TZ, RS)!
I have dreams of this being next year's christmas present to me and the family. Hope that pans out. I do have a backup plan...

I totally agree!!! It was mentioned in some gaming linked article somewhere here. When we inquired and was told it's a wide body, we were floored. He mentioned an upper right flipper would be part of the game as well

If it is wide body, it must have changed, since Jack told me personally at Allentown that it was to be a narrow body game. Maybe they decided it has too much stuff and needs the extra real estate. Too bad, I was looking forward to a JJP narrow body. Pat can do wonders with either, but narrow body games do shoot differently than wide body.

Just because he said it that day, doesn't mean it won't change several more times from now! We are talking about Jack here

"Might as well" Yeah... Yeah.... This is a great example to check your voice texting before sending

You and me both! Pat, please build me a fun game!!! I really hate to put high expectations on you, and I know that you have no idea what I would consider to be fun. Keith seems to know because he hits it over and over, but you may not know yet. I like games that are both simple and complex. Balanced, and yet have exploits I can leverage for big scores. I like quests that are almost impossible, and at the same time make me believe I can reach them. I like steps along the way (like ECMB, give me credit to the mini wizard by starting it, but don't give me the diamond until I finish it). Play that fine dance of something I understand logically but I'll end up cursing my lack of skills in executing it. Make me want to hit the start button because I ALMOST did something. You and I have danced this dance before. But now that you are dancing on the JJP platform... Boom!
Quoted from TaTa:"Pat's game will be a wide body and it will be announced around Valentine's Day and would start being produce six months from then".
So I can have it a year from now? Sounds just right. I've already picked out the spot for it.

I think all the WOZ buyers just spit their drinks out all over their screens
Quoted from Miguel351:But which natural disaster will it be? What's left?
Tidal Wave/Tsunami?
White Squall?
Sharknado?
ebola

Can I give this multiple thumbs up? Hit the nail on the head

Jack said it was a standard body right here on pinside, but that was a while ago so I don't hold him to it if things have changed.

I am thinking more general. ALL of the potential disasters. THE end of the world pin.
Then you can leverage all the crazy stuff in a single game. Just title it "natural disaster"
lots of opportunity to get very creative with it

If it was going to be that quick he would have already started the preorder list.

Do you have any idea how fast this would end up in my house? Seriously.

You just blew my mind. That would be insane. So many different modes could be done under that.
Quoted from TaTa:I think all the WOZ buyers just spit their drinks out all over their screens
But I am a WOZ buyer and owner (love the game). Yet my drink is safely sitting in its glass. Yup, there have been problems along the way. There were some major miscues and mistakes we all know about. Jack can't blow his nose without people complaining about which nostril it was shipped through. Yet he built an amazing game. I think he learned a shit-ton from building WOZ. And I firmly believe he built a company that can survive long term. He will fix his supply chain issues through the completion of WOZ and through The Hobbit. I'm expecting TH to be a lot smoother just because of the lessons he has had. So why wouldn't I think he can deliver Pat's game. Anyone thinking TH will be as slow as WOZ just isn't looking at reality.
Quoted from TomGWI:If it was going to be that quick he would have already started the preorder list.
Is the preorder going to be their business model forever?

Riiiiiight. People are just complaining about the most ridiculous things, huh? WOZ customers had nothing legitimate to complain about ... just a bunch of whiners.
And P.S - Although Jack can be credited with allowing a talented team to do whatever they want ... Jack didn't build the game. Which is probably one reason he was making such ridiculous and unrealistic ship date declarations to us.

Which part of "mistakes and miscues" didn't you understand? Of course they had something to complain about. And some still do have something to complain about. It's not done yet. But there is nothing I could say that would change your mind about anything. You seem to have a burr stuck under your blanket the past month or so. But that's ok. You don't have to tolerate when people make mistakes. You can get upset that I'm willing to send a lot of money to JJP for Pat's game. Keep raging against the machine while I play pinball. Have fun with that.

Dude just stop please. I've sat on the sidelines and haven't said a word but it's gotten old real quick. You don't have any information about what happened and why. Most of what you say is just as speculative as everything else you read but it's touted as factual and is extremely condescending to those of us who busted our butts to make a great game/company. Love him or Hate him, without jack's no compromise way there likely wouldn't have been a game at all or one that would have been "meh". At this point please just lay down the sword. The LE games are just about done. That situation in AUS is about to come to a close and the hobbit is right around the corner with more of the no compromise way of doing things but lessons learned and processes improved.

Alex, how about you lay down the sword? I don't have "any information" ?? Well that sums up JJP doesn't it? I've heard all of the excuses from Jack, most notably the one about the issue with the cabinets. It wasn't my business decision to trust one person with a process you couldn't get from any other supplier. It wasn't my business decision that JJP needed to create their own boards and architecture from game one instead of using something like P-ROC. And it wasn't my decision to hold back as much information regarding the lighting issues as was done (just to name a few). How do you excuse jack from stating in April of 2012 that JJP was looking to have a prototype in July and ship shortly thereafter? Either he knew that was a complete lie (or at best an unrealstic likelihood) or he was just that bad of a project manager. Even up until 6 months ago he was giving folks unrealistic ship dates. It was Jack's decision to exclude promised LE-only features such as a mirrored backglass and an INTERACTIVE topper (no?). It WAS Jack's decision to announce a new limited (now just a "special" edition) 75th anniversary edition (a slap in the face.) It continues to be Jack's decision to provide as little information on Hobbit as possible (what exactly are those LE featues?!?). Everyone is just trusting everything is on schedule with Hobbit and games will start shipping in December as promised. Because really, if it was anything else Jack would be communicating that to every pre-paid person right now, right? So there is no reason to think games won't be shipping in mass in December, right?
I happily traded my Hobbit order to TaTa and have in an email a guarantee from JJP that he will get one of the first 15 games. I honestly hope he gets his game in December.
Quoted from davewtf:At least he knows he's crazy
Right. Because I'm not afraid to speak my mind against the "JJP can do no wrong" lovers, I'm crazy. Hey, I respect all ways of life ... if you enjoy taking it up the butt that's fine by me. Carry on, nothing to see here.
Quoted from Miguel351:But which natural disaster will it be? What's left?

I hear Pat has the ultimate wizard mode planned for his game. Finish it and the pin explodes.
Way cool, but will cut down on the replay value a bit.

I am the Bishop of Battle, complete with fireworks and....fog machine?
Fair dinkum! If this was a tidal wave or ocean/weather event pinball that was fun and original, my local dealer will automatically order me one as I am a bit on the unusual side with my collection!
Are you listening Joe?
Quoted from davewtf:At least he knows he's crazy
Yup. That about sums it up.
CraZ seriously calm down before you have a stroke. The issues we're fixed and the games are nearly done. I'd hate to see the grudge you would hold and the outcome of a tirade on something that was seriously life impacting and not a hobby. Based on your commentary in that post though, it's clear how little you do know even with public information. You do know the back glasses are mirrored right? Also we tried to play and work with the P-Roc and it didn't do what we wanted the way we wanted it too. And the light issues didn't start until after games has begun shipping and it took us a bit to isolate the root cause and develop a fix. Again you are spouting out things you know nothing about even though it's all public info that I've provided when asked. Info that you probably chose to ignore because of the aggravation you have.
When they finally announce that it is:
FUNHOUSE 2 - RUDY'S REVENGE
Tagline:
"Hey, it's only pinball. But now it's personal."
Then let me know. I'm in!
Quoted from Pinchroma:Yup. That about sums it up.

Glad JJP did not go with a proprietary P-ROC board. Not that I expect to be changing the mb, but you never know. Look at Pin2k for an example of proprietary processing hardware.
