Wondering witch do you think is the best pl's design for the year it was made?
Or just vote for the best ever

    #2 11 years ago

My favorite pinball game is Whirlwind, so I have to go with that.

    #3 11 years ago

    TAF is perfect

    #4 11 years ago

    Tough one.
Whirlwind is probably my favorite because it has the first "wizard mode" and was the first game to take advantage of 3 senses. Sight. Sound. And touch (with wind blowing on you during critical gameplay situations).

    Whirlwind set the bar.

ww has the first wizard mode?
cool, that is news to me, thnks.

I have soft spot for Banzai Run mainly because of the upper playfield and how happy I was when I finally reached the top shot. The Adams Family I think I actually like better and embarrassed to say I have never played TZ.

I believe the "Mega Door Bonus" is considered the first wizard mode in pinball.
But don't quote me on that

i'm not saying that WW is bad at all but I am surprised how often people say they love that pin. It's only okay in my book. I remember WW and ES back when they were pretty new in the arcade days, I found myself playing ES more often because it was just so crazy!
I think one of best is Banzai Run. It was way outside the box with that upper playfield. His best would have to be TAF or Funhouse because of how cutting edge they were, and Funhouse tuned in, is a pinball marvel. TZ is right there as well.
As for his worst, I'm going with RCT. I don't know what he was thinking with that one.

I have them sitting next to each other and let's just say ES isn't getting a whole lot of love right now. Not that it's a bad game, but WW is fricken incredible. I put FH a close second and TAF a distant third. I'm a DMD guy, but WW is just that good. Need to play RBION some day though.

No Good Gofers for sure. The best of many Lawlor Pins rolled into one.

    You missed everything.

    #14 11 years ago

TZ, so much going on for that one.

    #15 11 years ago

    TZ ,,,,,,,,,,,

You and Shanetastic would get along Very Well.. He Top'd his High Score the other nite w/ 100M
and he Got a Jackpot during the Tornado Siren .. I Hope he Chimes in on this Thread ..

    #18 11 years ago

Earthshaker should at least be on the list. Road Show is probably my favorite, but ES is a close second for Lawlor. I'd gladly take any of them though.

Really suprised to see Funhouse toward the back of the pack.

    #19 11 years ago

    Monopoly.

    #20 11 years ago

NASCAR is a good lawlor game too.

I voted for TAF though, thats the best.

    #21 11 years ago
    Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

Nascar should be on the list.

    I agree, thanks for mentioning.

    #22 11 years ago

ooo, Nascar Vs. Monopoly, thats a hard one.

    #23 11 years ago

    Whirlwind and Funhouse
love those Granner tunes during the 2 ball mutiballs, gets my adrenaline pumping. I dont dance..ever..but have been caught by my wife dancing to these games lol

I thought Black Knight 2000's The King's Ransom was the first of these.

    Could be.
I had read somewhere the Whirlwind was the first game with wizard mode.
Anyone out there know if that's true or not.

    #27 11 years ago

Witch (WOZ? ) lol... TAF for me. TZ is also a great game, but TAF for completeness.

    #28 11 years ago

All great, but the greatest is TAF. If you played back when this came out, you played nothing else.

Finrod is correct. Black Knight 2000 came out a year before Whirlwind and was the first to have a wizard mode (King's Ransom).

    Sweet.
    Thanks for confirming.
    Never played BK2000.
Look forward to taking it for a spin someday.

    #32 11 years ago

I like RBION over TAF or TZ.

    #33 11 years ago

    So many great games 1-TZ 2-TAF,3-NGG 4-WW 5-ES

    #34 11 years ago

TAF....will always be THE game for me.

    #35 11 years ago

Funhouse, Earthshaker,& Whirlwind in that order!
Bummed ES not on vote list.

That's funny, I was dancing to the WW high score music today. Love that tune.

    #37 11 years ago

    What about Family Guy?

    #38 11 years ago

    His next one

    #39 11 years ago

I would have voted for Family Guy had it been a choice. Otherwise FH and TAF were a tough choice. I'll go with FH for the year it was released.

    #40 11 years ago

    For me this goes:
    1. No good gofers
    2. Twilight Zone
    3. Ripleys
    4. Safe cracker
    5. Roller coaster tycoon
    6. NASCAR
    7. Whirlwind
    8. Roadshow
    9. Shrek / Family guy
    10. Funhouse
    11. Adams family
    12. Banzai Run

    #41 11 years ago

    Twilight Zone by a mile.

    #42 11 years ago

    I'll take Addams over TZ.

I think Banzai was an experiment gone wrong.

    #43 11 years ago

    tz, fh, 1,2

    #44 11 years ago

Twlight Zone is his best game. Rated top machine on IPDB.org for a reason.

    #45 11 years ago

I find TZ too complex to get a firm grip on the strategy for getting the best score... too may variables involved to know how to attack the game for me... stacking can be great, but the way it's done here just makes the game too messy for my simple mind... It becomes like a game of chess...

    #46 11 years ago

Out of the four I own:

    1/ TZ
    2/ WW
    3/ RS
    4/ TAF

That's the order that I play he most, WW is the hardest.

    Mark

    #47 11 years ago

i currently only own a TAF and have owned a TZ in the past but am looking again for a nice TZ

    so my top 3:

    1. TZ
    2. TAF
    3. NGG

    #48 11 years ago

    TAF.

    #49 11 years ago

The question was the best game for the year it was made, in that context, it's not even close, TAF was a game changer, much like High Speed and Space Shuttle were in the 80's.

All the great games from B/W owe a debt to Addams, if you were an operator at that time, or a hobbyist, you know, there was definitely a reason it is the biggest selling modern pin

    #50 11 years ago

I vote for TZ, but before that game was made, it has to be FH.
