Considering how the PL rumor was bang on, it's probably likely the Haunted House part of it is correct as well.
I still think going with an "unlicensed" Pinball theme for a major company in 2014/2015 is quite the gamble. These things are supposed to go on location somewhere and illicit coin drops from the public.
There is definitely a segment of the collector's market that has been speaking out for this, fuelled by nostalgia from past eras of pinball. I don't know how big that segment is so I don't understand the business sense of this.
Quoted from ek77:The collectors of today grew up playing games on location. If games on location go a way what makes you think there will be new collectors to replace the old men of today.
This is a definite. My kids will not build an arcade in their basement.
I'm in a pinball league and I do think there is room for growth there, but competitive pinball will not carry the whole thing, but it can only help.
Barcades are a nostalgia thing, not unlike "Cafe 80s" from Back to the Future Part 2, we're almost at the year of 2015, but I don't see them keeping everything afloat either.
So, basically, we're screwed but have got a good 10-20 years left while our generation is active. Enjoy it while we've got it.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:Pinball manufacturers do not publicize "next up" themes while hyping and selling their newest release.
Uhh, except when it's Hobbit announced before WOZ's are for sale.
