New Party Zone owner here. I love this game. Everything is in pretty good shape for a game that was built in 1991. I do have a question. First can i join the club ? Also...... What is the best inclination of the play field? 6.5 - 7? I actually have been playing it a little higher because it makes the game faster. Thanks

#416 4 years ago

Thanks. I am playing right at 7 and it seems to be just fast enough, and i am still able to hit cosmic cottage and the rocket ramp. I have another question. I am systematically going this pin and cleaning and fixing.

One issue I am having are the poppers keep popping the bulb unit out of the little contact board. Does anyone else have this issue?
I opened the cabinet to check the batteries, but it seems the mod to elimate has already been done. Can you tell me anything else that has been improved from looking at the picture. The Pinduino was added which is awesome.

Thanks for your help.

Professor Pinball did the Pinduino ramps ( There is video in this forum). It really makes the game come alive. I actually got the game from a good friend and coworker. He loved the game but needed the room and wanted it to go to a good home. Overall condition is very good. The ramps are in good shape. Bazaar head works well and the rubber is still supple. I had the problem with ball falling off the left ramp, but after a search of the forums (THANK YOU). A rubber band at the top of the ramp did the trick. The biggest issue is that my wife got the high score. It's a really high score. So I am fixing and playing, chasing the dragon.

howdy,

When you turn your PZ off does it make a loud noise out of the speakers? Is there a better way to shut down the machine?

Thanks

#429 4 years ago

Wow that sound does not sound right, or good for the machine, but if it hasn't blown up yet I guess it wont ( Cross fingers) I have been going through the all of the lights and noticed that one is out under the rocket ramp at the very back left of the play field. How do you get to those bulbs? Just rebuilt the flippers last night. They are super snappy now

#431 4 years ago

Hello again Party Zoners,

Do you turn off the dancer and the Captn head to protect them against wearing out. I know parts are hard to come by and I was thinking for everyday play this might preserve both very active components. Do you know a way to stop Captains mouth to stop also. There is a setting for rotation, but I didn't see one for the jaw.

Party On.

Rob

#433 4 years ago

Yeah your right. Turned them both back on . Play it until the flippers fall off

Hello,

So how exactly do you get the Big Bang? Sometimes it seems like I have to get the party dude in the cottage, but today I was playing and all of a sudden it said Big Bang is lit without even hitting the cottage. Sent 2 balls up the ramp and it paid out. Also is there a way to set Big Bang to 99 mil?

Thanks,

Rob

Hello,

I got a new little issue with PZ. The top row on the DMD is not working. What I mean is that the top line on message displayed is not working. I checked the connections and they seem fine. It’s strange because during most tests all of the lights in the DMD light up but one test shows an area where they aren’t lighting. Has anybody seen this before?

Thanks for the advice,

I just reseated the cables . Powered off . Same issue. I really like the color display so that will be my next step. What is my option of
The display board is bad?

Thanks again

Quoted from crujones4life:

I had the top line out on my Party Zone DMD. Was a broken trace on the DMD right by the glass. Solder fixed it.

Thanks I will pull the dmd and follow the traces. Great idea.

#455 4 years ago

I just replaced my dmd with a color dmd from color dmd. The top line of mine was starting to fade as you can see on previous posts. If you want my old one just pay for shipping and it’s yours. Btw color dmd is awesome, but modifications must be done. It is not plug and play.

Yeah your right. I was going to check next to see if there was a way to edit colors. The purple rocket fuel isn't quite right, and there are a few other weird colors, but still is a really nice upgrade. One thing I thought i would mention for others researching down the road. The original power connector are not used. The DMD gets it's power from J116. If you are having issues with your power from your video board this would be a good work around.

Howdy,

It’s me .

So I was enjoying the color dmd but noticed the lights from the backboard were washing out the colors. So I built a box with weather stripping. You need 2 layers, but wow it makes a huge difference

Hello,

Hopefully everyone is staying well.

I got 2 questions for the awesome PZ club

My first question is:

Does your party zone show the replay graphic when you get an extra ball? I was watching you tube and the person that was recording his game play lit the extra ball on the rocket and hit it. He then got a cool replay sequence. I usually get extra ball on the screen followed by the machine the machine saying party zone and plays a different music tune. I have never seen replay on my machine. Is replay extra ball?

My second question is :

I’m using J116 for the color dmd and J118 for pinduino. Both had something plugged in that I had to pig tail. What is plugged i to these 2 ports?

As always thanks for
The info in adavance:

Thanks for the info.

Does replay work in free play ?

My manual is not complete. Is there a place to download the manual?

Thanks,

Rob

Thanks. That is soooo awesome.

Thanks to you and everyone else for helping this nooob.

I switched replay from extra ball to credit and boom. Replay graphic worked. It was so cool on the color dmd. Unfortunately with free pay it’s not needed.

Thanks again

Highest score on PZ ? Mine is 216 mil. 7 % incline extra ball 20 30 40 and 90. Easy on all settings

Added some bling to PZ this weekend. Added lights on party zone sign (white clear). Robotic comic (blue) and dance dummy (white clear). The one issue I have is that the socket that is illumination the dummy is right next to the boppers. Since the connection is wedge it pops the bulb out. Nothing super glue won’t fix

Does it stay turned or does it move back to center ? Can you run the head test?

#507 4 years ago

Hello,

Does anyone know what J118 does exactly? I see from the manual that it goes eventually makes it to the motor opto board. Grey-yellow and black 12v. Here is why I’m asking. The game keeps rebooting. When I touch that connector. The game reboots. When I leave it off the game will play for a while then reboot. I don’t have any of those connectors so I am not sure what to order.

Thanks,

Robert

Hello,

I had added a color DMD and have an Arduino running the ramps off of J126 I believe. Could be wrong. The problem I was having is that when the machine would get crazy like for the big bang it would reset. So i just disconnected the Arduino and have been the color DMD. Recently I found no reset by PinSound. Plugged it in and guess what? No more resets. Now I need to hook the the Head, Arduino and Color DMD to this one Connector. The problem is I don't know the name of the male to male adapter shown in the picture or the connector name. I know its a 4 pin, but i am not sure where to get it. Any help would be apricated.
