Well I give up fighting the ball coming off the ramp just do yourself a favor and use the hose method.
I just wanted to suggest that if you need to touch up the unobtainable rocket to use this particular pink metal sharpie I found on ebay, it's almost a dead match, unfortunately for me I had horrible black paint covering a worn fin so this was my only option.
Quoted from robertg130:Hi Guys, what part goes over the cosmic cottage base?
Thanks
Its a purple Bally pop bumper 2-piece faceted cap with a purple star post bolted to it.
Quoted from Sheprd:I tried the "hose" method, without much success. Still had balls shooting off the ramps at various points.
I did find a solution! I placed a neodymium bar magnet under the exit habitrail. This magnet is strong enough to grab the ball as it shoots out, but can't quite stop the ball. It slows it to a point where the ball NEVER flies off the ramp anymore. You don't see the slowdown as it happens, but you can sure see the results!
Mac
now that is brilliant sir!
Quoted from HighProtein:I've had mine on location next to my Dr Dude in Jacksonville Beach FL at Sneakers Sports bar since I got it.
I may move it soon to re-arrange my route, but people seem to get a kick out of it!
I think its the simplicity and the funny call-outs man, you wouldn't happen to have a spare Dr. Dude Big Shot figure you could part with?
Quoted from robertg130:Thanks for the info
There is first pics of bringing mine back from the dead.
Thats going to be a sweet build dude, your chromiumium on the Rocket looks mint!
Quoted from jetmechinnc:Yay, just joined the club! Picked my Party Zone up yesterday. Love it. Only negative thing is the Captain's Jaw doesn't move nor test but the head rotates just fine with no errors. Any ideas of what normally fails? At first glance, wires seem ok at the solenoid below his head. Beyond that, game plays great, no problem with ramps nor any broken plastics and I really like the LED monster coming out of the club house. Former owners mod.
Oh, and if you put LED flashers in, are there any warming resistors to cut out? I didn't notice any but on my former F-14 as well as Gorger, I had to remove them in order for the flashers to work. Former owner put LEDs in the game, but the normal halogen flashers are still in there. Think they are the 89 flashers.
Thank you,
Jason
dude check out this thread i made on how to fix the jaw!
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/how-to-repair-your-party-zone-captain-bizarres-head-with-sucess
Quoted from jetmechinnc:My Party Zone is missing one thing, the space ship at the top of the wire ramp. I see you can buy that item on a few websites. My question is, how is it attached? Looking at the plastic parts for sale, they just look like a flat plastic piece, and nothing else. Do you have to install a clamp with rivets etc? Any info and pictures would be great.
It's an L shaped bracket same one found on the girl next to the robotic comic. And it attaches threw the screw linking the plastic ramp to the wire ramp.
Fear not Party Zone owners of the dreaded faded yellow anymore!
I've been working with Copic alcohol based ink (Acid Yellow Y08) and it works like a charm! You can apply it with a marker or brush and wipe off brush strokes with a cue tip and paper towel dabbed in alcohol to blend it in! The result is keeping your original silk screened art in tact while rejuvenating the faded yellow! After a few days it has fully dried it will not fade or rub off in your hands its on there permanently!
Quoted from jetmechinnc:That looks perfect! Did you use the copic wide sketch markers to do those colors?
Yes I only had to redo the yellow the rest of the colors weren't faded, the key is that this ink is easily blendable especially for large surfaces! Get it all on there don't worry about the stroke marks work one panel at a time, then use a rag and cue-tip dabbed in alcohol as a blender to smooth out the stroke marks and just smooth it out all over.
...well it looks like I'm going to definitely have to touch up the front of the cab too, Captain Bizarre's helmet, glove stars and shoes! Theres a blender Copic marker for fine blending its literally just filled with alcohol lol. Can anybody with a non faded original cab take a good pic of the front so I can try and match the colors please?
Quoted from jetmechinnc:Great info! I'll check to see if they have them at my local Michaels or A.C. Moore. My cabinet looks like a coloring book ready to be filled in! At least the playfield and all of it's toys are spot on near perfect! Plus I finally got the Captains mouth working! Was a broken wire near the solenoid. Didn't notice it because the wires were encased in shrink wrap. But found it when I starting ohming things out. Now he moves as he should, yay.
Hey cool I love this game for a casual player like me, we got to keep them alive and It's a Comic pin I think it deserves to be inked! lol I found this pic of the front to paint by numbers but I still think the colors are off a bit. I'm hopeing someone will post a pic there are 2 minty original ones on this thread!
Quoted from jetmechinnc:What is that dancing girl in the back and where do I find one?! Really like the beer mugs, where did you find those? Plus, your mirror blades makes a cool crazy game even crazier. Love it.
Jason
Very rare Big Bang Bar tube dancer, the new reproduction one is found here on pinside https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/bb-barbara and the tube is at pinbits https://www.pinbits.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13_32&products_id=317 the slow boat from China 6v gear reduction motor found on ebay here ebay.com link: itm
The beer mug is from another rare Bally a Cactus Canyon target NOS and I got it from eclipse pinball on ebay here ebay.com link: Bally Cactus Canyon Pinball Machine Playfield Beer Mug Pop Jumping Target NOS
Quoted from GLSP3022:Just joined the PZ club. Picked up a nice players machine. Some pf wear but has a NOS left ramp and rebuilt flippers.
My question is: has anyone done anything to make the "request saucer" in front of the captain easier to hit? With rebuilt flippers, the ball flies in and out every time. Only random rebound shots stay in. Mine has a velcro covered bracket behind the hole, Not sure if it's stock.
My flips are rebuilt and I have a new Roddendog power board supplying 35v strong to the coils. Its kinda a light touch shot and I'm sure the Velcro isn't helping, I just have a new bare metal plate from MARCO on there and it works fine.
Quoted from Kerry_Richard:Nice looking PZ playfield... did you do it yourself, or have it done?
Is the bottom side off, or still populated?
I did it myself and the bottom is still populated, check my advertisement I restore pins, $600 for 3-5 coats of 2-part automotive grade clear coat (2K) blocked and polished on just about any pf!

I was just comparing my PZ cabinet artwork with other PZ's out there. My cabinet has all silkscreened artwork screened directly on the painted wood and most of the other PZ's I have seen seem to have cabinet vinyl decals, you can see how my bolt in the front panel was painted over from the factory. If you run your hand over the cabinet you can feel the braille like texture of the silk screened artwork in the dots and in the black lines. Could this be a prototype or perhaps an early release of the game, does anybody else have this kind of artwork?
Quoted from Kerry_Richard:I don't think the factory had color matching bolts. It was probably painted that way from a previous owner.
I don't think the painted bolt head is important they may have just made a run of them like this. If you look at my earlier pics the painted bolt head had faded with the rest of the yellow just the same before I restored the faded yellow factory paint with the Copic ink. The significance is the silk screened art, if someone could take a close-up comparison shot from the left flipper button, with factory cab decals you will immediately see the color and pattern difference.
Wow I can tell shes a beauty they must be an early run of the silk screened cabinets, the only painted over bolt was that one shown by the coin door. I thought everyone just had aftermarket decals but after seeing some really nice unmolested PZ's I realized that the factory must have switched to vinyl at some point. There may be a variant in the rocket, one seems more light pink and the other is red, at first I thought this was just from fade but like mine you only see the pink rocket on the heavily faded cabinets. There's a really nice one up here on Pinside right now it has the factory vinyl and seems completely unmolested aside from my hot-rodded PZ!
Quoted from capriv8s:does anyone have a spare dancing dummy (just plastic body)please?
It's made of fiberglass, somebody should defiantly make one of these!
Quoted from swinks:I have offered before if someone could get me a worn but still intact one, I can re-design so it can be made at shapeways
Oh man you should I have your rocket flame it's awesome! I can send you detailed measurements.
So PZ is pretty cool, I dont know if anybody else notices this but there's more than the 3 other pins on the backglass. Aside from Dr. Dude, Elvira and the Party Monsters and Party Animals I'm pretty sure that's also Mousin' Around from '89! I wonder who are some of these other characters and if they might be small tributes from other pins, I don't recognize that cyclops or that bearded guy with the beer???

Quoted from patrickvc:My red gi string is all regular bulbs. I'm thinking of doing purple for purple haze
I thought about that, or a mix of uv and purple. I will say I inadvertently put a blue strip over the way out of control spiral on the pf and realized how black light responsive the pf is! One thing I did do was add a 3 banger natural white strip underneath Captain Bizarre's plastic, I'm going to order a red one too and tie it into the gi.
Still looking for a real Big Shot figure and MB Dracula or Frankenstein!
Quoted from TheCnyPinGuy:Hey everyone
I joined the PZ club as well
My son LOVES it
Couple things
Anyone have a clear shot of the GI circuits
My reds are on constantly
Also does anyone have or make a Rock It Meter ?
have slight wear from a dragged flipper years ago
Other wise super happy
Red GI stays on almost all the time, looks nice man!
You should hear the coil actuating first and foremost, if not then you have a connection issue to the coil or burnt out transistor for the coil. If you do hear it clicking then you may have the jaw flap in his head instead of his jaw cavity, check out this thread I made of how to improve the jaw movement...
You should be ok its the paint that wears off mostly from cleaning it wrong, just rinse it in warm soapy water to clean it. Repaint it with acrylic paint, enamel paint will never dry on rubber.
Quoted from PartyZone:I have a few questions:
1. Can you erase the top scores (1-4) without erasing the grand champion score?
2. Sometimes the ball ejector on the right side doesn’t hit the ball hard enough to hit it up to the ramp. So it drops back down and tries until it makes it. Is this an issue with the coil itself needing replacement or is there some other kind of adjustment than can be made. It works most of the time.
3. The Request Time/B Merry hole has a metal deflector behind it. It bends very easy. I bought a new deflector and it started to bend after 2 days. I thought about putting a rubber bumper pad to absorb the shock from the ball smacking it. Anyone have this problem and if so have you found a solution?
Ok lets see..
1. Not sure about the grand champion I'd leave it alone I think you will most likelly erase all 4 scores
2. If your talking about the ball troff under the apron there's a trap wire that keeps the ball from bouncing back into the hole you may be missing that.
3. got you covered go threw the previous pages in this thread and I listed the Marco replacement part for that saucer hole, I wouldn't use the rubber it may make it be more bouncy its already a tough shot.
Quoted from rubberducks:Is anyone able to tell me the number of bulbs in the red GI string, and what type they are, off hand?
Was thinking of buying a mix of frosted red and purple LEDs to experiment.
There's exactly 18
