So I turn it on and get just some minimal GI. No attract mode. DMD repeats 2 messages. Can't coin up. I found 2 burnt connectors and one missing pin that one of the burnt connectors plugs into. Some leds don't light up on the boards. Replaced one blown fuse and no change. All other fuses are good. So where do I start?
I am pretty sure I read WPC games won't work without batteries. Is this true? My battery holder is shot. Have to order a replacement.
Alright so I ordered a new battery holder and replacement chips for the 5 chips near the holder. Looks like the wires from the burnt connectors were removed and wired together with wire nuts. I'll leave those alone for now. Any other ideas recommendations?
Quoted from crujones4life:I am pretty sure I read WPC games won't work without batteries. Is this true?
No, it will work without batteries (but won't "remember" high scores and settings).
You should not put another battery holder on that board... mount one off-board or go nvram route. Batteries on the board = problems waiting to happen. Don't use the holder you ordered.
All those burnt connectors and the matching header pins need replaced. The wire nut solution should be removed as well. Tough to tell but it looks like that bypass the PDB GI lamp control circuits (and thus the fuses as well).
Good luck!

He's got a section on his site called "connectors" about 1/2 way down on the left side.

Hey anyone know where I can find of if anyone has the stopper at the end of the left ramp as mines missing. I like to put one on b4 ball brakes the ramp
Just installed new MPU and game is playing great! Replaced 26 bulbs. Have a couple of hard to reach one left to replace. Cleaned playfield but needs some more cleaning. Couple questions...
1. How do I replace the bulbs on robot comic? I couldn't get the bulb out.
2. My Captain B.Zarr head does not rotate. It is stuck in one position. Can't even move it manually. Troubleshooting steps?
This game is so much fun!

Funny I just shopped mine out today. For the bulbs, they're 555, and you should be able to pull the out. Don't twist or bend, just pull straight out in the direction they're facing. If they still won't come out, you may need to remove the back panel.
As for the head issue, I would check the wires going to the motor, and the motor itself. It's possibly seized. When you first turn it on, it should say press enter to see the errors. Hopefully it mentions the head.
Yeah the only error I get is related to the head. His jaw works but he will not rotate. It's like I am hitting a metal wall when I try to manually move.
Thanks for advice on the bulb I was trying to twist it out. Thought it was a 47.
Quoted from Redknight87:Thank you for the suggestion. This will be another thing I will try to get to this weekend and report back once I have tried these things.
Did bending wire form work on slowing down ball b4 it hits the ramp

clean the gear box most likely gummed up.
Can now manually move the head but doesn't try to move at all during game or test mode. New connectors coming soon to replace corroded one at J212. Hoping that helps.

Head should go into to test when you turn her on, and begin to move right away. Once you get that, you'll know you're on the right track.
Trying to reassemble to dancing dummy, but don't have enough spring grip washers, and I can't locate them online or in stores. So what are people using to secure the arms and legs on the dummy.
Part number: 20-9689
Thanks.
Well...I replaced J212 and head won't move. Reflowed solder on opto board and motor board and motor and coil and head still won't move. Optos all test good in switch test. The motor just won't move. How can I test the motor to see if it is still good? If motor is good...what is next step in troubleshooting?
What is the part number for the micro switch for the VUK behind the playfield? The one that sends the ball back down left ramp after rock it shot? Not 5647-12693-21 with the funky wireform.
Also the only way I can get to those damn switches is when I fold the head down! Our I will have to pull the playfield out...for a switch. Ridiculous!

Neg to neg and pos to pos while disconnected and powered off. Motor does absolutely nothing. Verified continuity from connector to lead on motor.
I too had to replace the Big Bang switch and ended up pulling the playfield after contorting myself around for an hour I just gave up and took out the playfield. The harness is long enough to set the playfield on the floor by the machine without disconnecting anything. Made it way easier.
What bulbs go in the black housings in the backbox? Mine are filled with 555 but none light up. Haven't swapped them out yet but is that the right bulb? Or were they originally blinking 545s?

Pretty sure those are 906 flashers. Will check when I get home.
Quoted from DougPiranha:Does anyone have a scan or decal for the "Rock it Meter" area. I have a nice PZ with a trashed area in front of the flippers.
I will pay for a decal if someone has one.
This. There have been some attempts made, and I know I could use a couple, one to use right away and one for back up.

Same here. Could really use one.
I'd love to help out. Wonder why so many Party Zones have wear. Aren't they all Diamond Plate? Anyway...would pictures from my pin help?
Also, can someone verify what bulbs originally went in the black bulb holders in the backbox?
Also...in regards to the ball flying off the left ramp. I also have this problem. What I have done is take a small rectangular piece of that soft fuzzy pad material you put on the bottom of chairs to prevent scratches on hardwood floors and place it on the underside of the top of the wireform that feeds the left ramp. It works amazingly well. I believe the ball fell off maybe once since I put it there several days ago. I'll post a pic when I get back downstairs into the arcade.
