Just picked one up. $2k. Found it locally. Only played the game once or twice before. Hoping we like it.

as a new member as well, any advice on what to check out that breaks or should be looked into?

#652 3 years ago
Quoted from Coachmudd74:

Ok I just move both screws on the sides of the head and it should pull off? Should I warm the rubber up with a hair dryer to slightly soften the rubber not a lot just a little?

No don’t warm it

Just use caution as paint can be weak and rubber might split

Also there are 2 metal spacers in the rubber head where the screws are so be aware so you don’t lose them

Should come up with some maneuvering

Quoted from Coachmudd74:

Hello everyone I just got my first PZ! Love the game and the machine is in great condition no fade the only issue I’m trying to figure out is that my jaw is not moving on the captain...the 2 wires are good the coil is firing and the mechanical jaw wire is barely moving and the jaw is not moving at all...what should I do first? Attempt to remove the head? I herd it’s very tricky to remove without tearing the rubber...any information will be greatly appreciated!!

Please checkout this thread before removing the B. Zarr head.

I put LED's throughout my playfield and am really happy with how it turned out. I tried to be pretty thorough on matching the colours of the bulbs to the colours of the insert it was behind. I also got new red LED's in all the GI locations that come up under string 1 which lights up with the multiball and big bang sequences. It looks really good when that gets going all in red.

So I got the hood up changing bulbs. It appears someone swapped out the red bulbs with all clear incandescents. How do I figure out what gi bulbs are suppose to be red? I'm assuming the original reds would have been red glass or red condoms? Thanks for any reference.

One way to do it would be to have working bulbs of any kind in all spots and then under test mode, turn on GI string 1. That's the one made up of entirely red lights. And yes, they originally had those red rubbers over them.

There is a feature in test to just have the red circuit on. I think that there is 18 red GI bulbs.

There is

Good pic. If you were the one that shared this with me a while back, let me just say that I had a couple small differences in which bulbs were part of the #1 GI string and which ones were not. And it wasn't because the location seen from on top were wrong. It was because on my machine, a couple of bulb holders got inserted into neighbouring holes and then a left or right regular GI string was in the red bulb location. It didn't matter much, but made figuring it out a little more difficult for me. Until I realized you could turn on all the reds by themselves and figure it out that way.

#666 3 years ago

You guys are the best!
Thank you.

My menu says red illumination. Turned on all clear. Looks like I gotta order some more red bulbs. Ups just te t said colordmd should be arriving within the hour.

#667 3 years ago

Sorry guys I got another question. Anyone know what this part is called? It's the metal ball stopper between yellow targets. Seems to be broken it half or wrong part?

Looks like you've noticed a lot of the same things I did on my game when I got it.

That's called the eject hole deflector: https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/01-6933

I saw both versions in different photos and mine had the one yours has. Until I put this full width one in from the Marco link. Both of them worked, but previously the ball would pop out and head pretty much straight for the left outlane, which was not ideal. With the full width one, it comes out and hits the bank of green eat, drink, B.merry targets, which is way better.

It is still a tough shot on the game, getting it into that saucer. It is quite close to the flippers and the ball can go all over everywhere quickly if you miss. Keeps you on your toes!!

#669 3 years ago

This is how mine is, and the ball does not bounce out very much. I haven’t checked to see if that is original or not, but it works well.

Is that just foam padding on the deflector. Apparently zbar mouth disnt move on mine either. Found
A wire not attached but thinking its disconnected for a reason.
Found the zbar plastic at pinball life along with the lift channel for the backglass..
Marco's has the deflector and dummy legs and cosmic cottage base.
Fun game so far, put some leds, new rubber, and gave her a quick coat of wax.

It is just the blue bumper that was used on the end of some ramps, as a protector.

Being an avid whitewater kayaker, I have big blocks of mini cell foam for outfitting my kayaks. I'll just widdle me a piece to look like that. Thanks.

Got my leds in and installed colordmd last night. I always get the lcd version but with this one I had to go led. The colors are poppin, and looks great. Waiting on some red leds, and the zbar plastic. Also on the hunt for some custom cards.

Camera definitely washes out the color intensity on colordmd as they are poppin in person.

#674 3 years ago

Does anyone know which fuse protects general illumination? Particularly the red gi. Was putting in red bulbs and now their out. Hoping it's a fuse. Lmk thanks.
Update : figured it out, unfortunately the whole fuse holder broke outta the board when I tried to pop it out. Arrrghhh...

I have had this pin almost 5 years. I had no idea that the football was an insert as the light was out and it's dark so hard to tell. Pretty cool to see it light up after all this time!

Noticed in your pick that the cosmic cottage sign isn’t behind the cottage? Did you relocate it for a reason? Curious?

Is there an official location for this sign post? Behind or in front?

My game didn't come with one, neither the plastic nor the metal bracket it's attached with. Does anyone happen to have one for sale? It doesn't have to be perfect. I would take the one you took off your machine if someone out there put an entire new plastics set into their game.

What is the setting for knock on extra ball?

I changed the replay award to extra ball instead of credit and then anytime you get an extra ball (like shooting the ramp a bunch of times) it fires off the knocker.

I really didn’t like the instruction card I had and the free play card. I saw one online and liked it but didn’t want to buy it. I decided to make my own version. While it looks a similar to the ones being sold it has different art work and the design I hand drew. The artwork images are from the game and the Bally logo. I have attached a .png file here. Don’t know of any other way to share it on Pinside. I have also uploaded it as a picture on my page. Feel free to download and use if you like. Share pic’s if you do. Hoping everyone likes them.

If anyone knows of another way to share this on Pinside let me know. Hopefully it’s in the full resolution I did it in if you try to save the image from the site to print.

Enjoy!

Anyone else have a VUK for the left ramp side that shoots the ball out so fast it doesn’t stay on the ramp half the time? New machine for me and I am trying to get it back into tip top shape.

Super common with Party Zone. Lots of people have posted in this thread their solution. I have settled on a rubber over the top of the habitrail the ball is ejected from.
The ball has not fallen out once since I did this.

I just installed new ramps from starship fantasy and the ball has never fallen off the ramp stays on every time...do you have an alignment issue possibly?

The VUK was shooting them out fast and they would not stay on the ramps 50% of the time. I did the recommendation above and they stay on now. They usually were flying off in the first turn.

Ok sounds good as long as it works and your happy how it looks...mine has post caps on it did you ever have them on? My right ramp has them on also...never flies off either of them...F6E226FF-6CC9-4F55-9881-757F5B3C1A1A (resized).pngF6E226FF-6CC9-4F55-9881-757F5B3C1A1A (resized).png

Only owned it for a month. Did not have post caps on it. I did fix an alignment issue with where the two ramps on the left are connected. That unfortunately isn’t where it was flying off the ramp at.

I ordered the cliffy’s for the two hole. I see you have one on in your pic. Looks good.
