Ok lets see..
1. Not sure about the grand champion I'd leave it alone I think you will most likelly erase all 4 scores
2. If your talking about the ball troff under the apron there's a trap wire that keeps the ball from bouncing back into the hole you may be missing that.
3. got you covered go threw the previous pages in this thread and I listed the Marco replacement part for that saucer hole, I wouldn't use the rubber it may make it be more bouncy its already a tough shot.

Regarding number 2...I recently removed my apron for the 1st time with a full shop and I don't see any type of "trap wire". Pics anyone?

Back Box- Rubber Edges

Not sure the best place to post this question, but I'm looking for the rubber material that is around the edges of the back box. I don't know the correct name for it. I looked in the parts catalog and marcospecialties.com with no luck. Anyone know what the part number is and/or where I can purchase some?

Thanks!

I want to repaint the Captain's teeth and maybe mustache. What is the best paint to use on rubber? Color suggestions?

I used acrylic paints and brush.

T-molding. Should be available from many arcade machine part suppliers.

I just replaced my dmd with a color dmd from color dmd. The top line of mine was starting to fade as you can see on previous posts. If you want my old one just pay for shipping and it’s yours. Btw color dmd is awesome, but modifications must be done. It is not plug and play.

The color DMD was a good choice. I like the product a lot. I'm waiting for a firmware update from ColorDMD for this title. You will notice after playing awhile that some items were missed and don't appear colored correctly or at all.

Damn really? Have they been made aware?

#458 4 years ago

Yeah your right. I was going to check next to see if there was a way to edit colors. The purple rocket fuel isn't quite right, and there are a few other weird colors, but still is a really nice upgrade. One thing I thought i would mention for others researching down the road. The original power connector are not used. The DMD gets it's power from J116. If you are having issues with your power from your video board this would be a good work around.

They know - hard not to. ColorDMD will put out a fix eventually. I'm sure it is a low priority.

Howdy,

It’s me .

So I was enjoying the color dmd but noticed the lights from the backboard were washing out the colors. So I built a box with weather stripping. You need 2 layers, but wow it makes a huge difference

I don’t have a photo handy but it is the same gate on most of the games from this era. Here is a link to it.

Hello,

Hopefully everyone is staying well.

I got 2 questions for the awesome PZ club

My first question is:

Does your party zone show the replay graphic when you get an extra ball? I was watching you tube and the person that was recording his game play lit the extra ball on the rocket and hit it. He then got a cool replay sequence. I usually get extra ball on the screen followed by the machine the machine saying party zone and plays a different music tune. I have never seen replay on my machine. Is replay extra ball?

My second question is :

I’m using J116 for the color dmd and J118 for pinduino. Both had something plugged in that I had to pig tail. What is plugged i to these 2 ports?

As always thanks for
The info in adavance:

Question 1) Replay and extra ball are very different things. Extra ball is literally an extra ball while replay is when you earned a free game. The DMD graphics are very different. It is likely that the person you were watching earned an extra ball the same time he hit the game's replay score. Replay is progressive and gets bumped up a little every time it is hit.

Question 2) J116 is cabinet 12V while J118 is playfield 12V. You can find this information out easily by looking in the manual in the interboard wiring section.

#472 3 years ago

Thanks for the info.

Does replay work in free play ?

My manual is not complete. Is there a place to download the manual?

Thanks,

Rob

Thanks. That is soooo awesome.

Thanks to you and everyone else for helping this nooob.

I switched replay from extra ball to credit and boom. Replay graphic worked. It was so cool on the color dmd. Unfortunately with free pay it’s not needed.

Thanks again

#476 3 years ago

Highest score on PZ ? Mine is 216 mil. 7 % incline extra ball 20 30 40 and 90. Easy on all settings

Added some bling to PZ this weekend. Added lights on party zone sign (white clear). Robotic comic (blue) and dance dummy (white clear). The one issue I have is that the socket that is illumination the dummy is right next to the boppers. Since the connection is wedge it pops the bulb out. Nothing super glue won’t fix

Hey PZ folks

I just brought back a PZ after missing my other one

One thing I didn’t notice when I picked it up The Capt N is not moving - he talks but no movement - the Optos work in sw edge

I have an older copy of PZ so my rom doesn’t have a head test

Ideas where to start ?

Thanks !!

Does it stay turned or does it move back to center ? Can you run the head test?

I have proto roms

Head test is not installed

No the head stays there

I have to slowly move it back to center

I replaced the IC on the Red Motor Board - no change

Looked over the optic board but the Opto switches work in edge test

i don't recall but can the plastic collar that triggers the opto's be rotated? Maybe sensor flags are just misaligned with his head?

#485 3 years ago

Going to be uploading a video of it’s behavior in a moment

#486 3 years ago

Links to 4 videos to show movements

Any help or insight would be great

Not sure what else it can be

Already checked the motor driver - replaced IC no change

The Optics are showing fine in SW Edge test

I did order new rom as I’m on a Proto Set to help with testing

Does the ccw right most opto switch get triggered by manually turning the head ccw?

Seems like like it’s getting stuck going ccw because it’s not triggering the right opto switch.

I had a PZ where the gear box was bad and the head would just make a grinding noise and wiggle back and forth a little bit but not turn fluidly. No idea if that’s related to your problem but the noise is similar and louder than I would think a well functioning one would be?

Hi

I took alligator clips and swapped the polarity

I can make him move either direction

Just can’t seem to have the game control him

I do have the L3 rom coming Monday with the Head Test feature so maybe we can shed some light here

Worst case he gets unplugged and faces forward

Sounds like you’re on the right track! For mine I quit messing with it because I think the gear box was a couple hundred bucks? and just changed the settings so that he would talk but not rotate. Felt like I never really missed the rotation. Good luck!

I think your flag wheel is 180 opposite of what it should be. On mine the inner half moon is on left side when the cap is facing forward. See the ledge on the left opto?

something is up. hopefully you get the roms with the test. the wheel was off and its fixed now, the gearbox seems fine. It must be the switches or something. Maybe the wheel needs slight adjustment or something.
