I've never had issues with the balls riding the entire length of the ramps... perhaps the packing tape holding them together keeps the speed under control . Right ramp is broken right where the backbox lampboard swings and hits it while the playfield is up. The damage pre-dates me; all I've done is change out the tape some something more clear.
