For whatever reason I have always been drawn to Party Zone. Perhaps its the zany theme that combines characters from many Bally properties, perhaps it's the quintessential 90's vibe it gives off, perhaps it's that it glows in the dark, who knows? Regardless, the one thing that has always made the game truly awful was the horrific music and call outs.

I have decided to fix this problem once and for all and have embarked on a quest to improve the audio for Party Zone by was of a custom mix for a Pinsound board.

I have already started on the music and am working to secure some legitimate voice talent to record all new call outs. My plan is not to change the actual script, just get new recordings made for existing spoken words. I am however open to suggestions on anything that people think should be changed from a scripting perspective.

I am including a link to my current work in progress, which should give you an idea of the truly 90's vibe I am working to capture with the music selection.

The call outs are currently all original as I don't plan on releasing that work until I am completed with it.

My guess is there are not too many people with Pinsound boards in their Party Zones, but if you happen to have both, I am looking for some feedback if you are willing to drop a Pinsound in your game give it a test and let me know what you think so far.

Thanks!

Current Music Line Up:

Party Zone Thee = Groove Is In The Heart
Game Over = Ice Ice Baby
Safe Sax = Good Vibrations (marky mark) & Be My Lover
Purple Haze = Purple Haze Remix
Chicken Feet = Chicken Dance Remix
Dummy Dance Contest = I like to move it, Macarena, What is Love, Another Night, Get Connected
Pinball Wizard = Pinball Wizard Remix
De Funkt = Around the world
Laff Attack = Move This by Technotronic
Multiball = Hotstepper
Fan Fare Football Drain = Monday Night Football Theme

The Pinsound board allows for multiple audio clips to be picked at random so I may add some additional selections of excellent 90's dance tracks.

I finally stopped playing with the audio editing long enough to rebuild both flipper mechs which I have needed to do since I picked the game up about 2 months or so ago.

I also took advantage of CPR’s Black Friday sale and ordered the Mirrored Backglass because why the hell not!

20% savings pushed me over the edge!

I had previously purchased new cabinet decals as mine like many are totally faded out.

Upside, the set I got is UV reactive and this entire machine is going to glow like crazy when I am done.

I rebuilt the Dancing Dummy mechanism tonight as well. The original coil was magnetized and preventing the dummy from moving consistently and occasionally was blowing fuses.

All better after a clean up and new coil.

Ramps are virtually perfect after some flame polishing.

This was the game when I brought it home. Sorry this post wasn’t first.

I have subsequently repaired the GI harness off the transformer properly and then installed a GI OCD which was a must for this game.

I plan on removing the batteries and installing a NVRAM at some point.

#11 4 years ago

I am thinking to install this t-molding and running UV Blacklight strips through it to illuminate the cabinet decals, but I am not sure how well that will work, nor do I know if it will be obnoxious during play.

ColorDMD was a worthwhile upgrade for sure.

Where did you get the cabinet decals?

Ebay

Quoted from crujones4life:

Couple pics of mine in the arcade. There are 8 4ft black lights.[quoted image][quoted image]

That’s sweet! Must get as much Blacklighting as I can inside the machine.

I have a spare set of Pinstadiums I may toss in for the UV connected to the second string of GI used during the main playfield dimming.

#19 4 years ago
Quoted from Langless28:

Homemade uv strips but definitely worth adding it and triggering in red GI only mode.

Yep, just like you did it. I am thinking to also add a relay to the red GI string to trigger the exterior under cabinet and t-molding UV lighting I want to add as well.

I just got word back from the voice talent I selected. I think we can get these new callout recordings going

Things are progressing. Wasn’t happy with the first voice over work so I am auditioning new talent right now.

I am happy with the music though.

Hey everyone. I have sold the game but I think I have it on Dropbox. Never got to the call outs though. I’ll look for it.

Pinsound board. Download and unzip files to root of a USB thumb drive. Plug thumb drive in to Pinsound board and boot up the game.

Done.

Quoted from crujones4life:

Just about to ask the same thing...I am super interested in this but $309 is a pretty good chunk of change if it doesn't sound great.

As the original creator all I can say is it is such a monumental improvement over the original game music you can’t really go wrong.

I will look for any video I may have taken while working on it.
