I'm having an issue with the right flipper bat hanging the ball between the top and the guide on a Bally Party Animal (please see attached pics). I rebuilt the flippers and that did not fix it. I loosened the posts on the adjacent bumper and ball guide to see if I could narrow the gap and there was no noticeable movement. I just finished replacing the flipper bats, thinking that maybe this was angle related and that I wasn't able to get fine enough alignment due to historical dimpling on the bat shaft. Nothing has helped. I do not see any noticeable chips or wear to the lower ball guide plastic when compared to the functioning left side.

I really don't know what to do at this point, but it is really annoying during play.

I think I may have missed something and this post wasn't necessary. I believe that the guides on both sides are chipped in a similar fashion and only the right side is really feeling the effects. I'll have to fabricate new guides for both sides.

Did you check with Cliffy to see if he’s made anything for this game? I should check, I haven’t played my game since I took it to a friend’s place.

I haven't, is that his Pinside handle? I'm really not setup for making plastics. I could do it with a trace and a scroll saw, but it will never look as clean as a laser cutter.

Cliffy makes all sorts of protectors and guides and stuff. He made some for your exact issue that’d I’d bought, but for Gorgar. It doesn’t look like he has anything for Party Animal (this interested me as I have this game as well), but you might be able to email him to see if he can make you some. I was just emailing with him the other day, he’s super nice.

I haven't made those yet but certainly can. I just need your plastic ones to work from. ALL the 80's Bally (ie, the cheap era) used butyrate flipper guides and after all these years they have all shrank, warped, yellowed and chipped. As you see on my frames page I've redesigned stainless versions for 8 ball champ, eight ball deluxe, flash gordon, strange science, fathom- many others.

If OP doesn’t wanna send his, I’ll send mine. I was gonna go get my game here shortly anyway to go through it

Can I scan mine on graph paper and email it to you high res? This way you could have scale.

Let me know - I work in IT and have a reasonable grasp on file formats. I could also scan the top pieces to guide you on the edge angle if you see value in that.

Thank you!

Here are some pics that I took this morning. I traced the top plastic to assume the position of missing parts. Each square is .25 inches

I have been painfully watching this because I was not wanting to take business from Cliffy and because I didnt want to create more work for myself, but I can laser cut you replacements. As I have a Party Animal and my clears are in good shape. All you have to do is install the metal standoffs. Let me know. I will tell you, it will be a little bit as i have to trace them out, cut them and dry fit them on my machine.

I'm in for a set and I'll still buy a set from Cliffy if he makes them. How do you install the metal standoffs? Is there a type of rivet tool for that?

Heat the standoff with tip of your soldering iron. Quickly the metal will soften the plastic and it hold and come off. Repeat to install. Careful not to get the standoff too hot. Will over melt the plastic. Kinda of an art to it. Vid covers this in one of his posts.
