I've never been to any kind of tournament/expo for pinball before and thinking about going to PAPA this year. I'm not a great player and am fairly new to the hobby (only 20 years old). Should I go/Is it worth it for me?

    #2 6 years ago

Well worth it. Do it at least once to see and play all the games.

    great weekend. highly recommend it.

even if you don't want to compete, there's plenty of tables in the casual play area...

Alright cool. The warehouse looks awesome and I think it would be cool to play some of the machines before we decide to buy more.

    #5 6 years ago

So there are a lot of machines to play even if I don't play in the tournament?

    #6 6 years ago

There's about 450 machines at Papa. Only around 30 of them are in the tournament banks.

    #7 6 years ago

    HAHA. I guess thats plenty...

Thanks for the response guys. I think it would be something cool for me and my dad to do this summer now that were really getting into pinball . Might even enter the lower level tournament.

    Go for sure...

I'm going to Pinburg and PAPA

    #9 6 years ago

No, you shouldn't go. Go to the 2014 insted.

    #10 6 years ago

Why should I go to 2014 instead?

    #11 6 years ago

One of the greatest places to go play pinball, should be no question about going.

    #12 6 years ago

Thought you might have put your name down for Pinburgh....

YES! It is a wonderland of pinball. Most everything plays great and with the biggest selection of pins to play around, from EM to SS, to modern and they usually have at least two of the latest release. Plus lot of great people to meet, and great to watch the finals play with some great skills on display.

Here's a few pics of the non tournament area.

The facility is a lot of fun with tons of great games. The condition of the games is better and more consistent than you're likely to find at most pinball shows. Don't forget, a lot of the older EMs are on free play. Try the start button first...

I would say you can't go wrong trying a few entries in the C division. They are $10 per entry. I think a reasonable first-timer budget might be $50.

Thats about what I figured. Might be fun to play in a tournament type setting.

    Thanks for the responses!
