How did you get the sliding section of the lock bar apart? I thought the pivot point was crimped or something like that?

Oh, I see know. The crimp is facing down, ok. Yeah, I've cleaned up lock bars in the past and unless you clearcoat them they just rust up again. And they always look rough due to the pitting.
A little extra work but hey..........
