Hi -- just embarking on my first playfield restoration (minor touchup). Two questions: 1). What kind of paintbrush, assuming I'm using acrylics. I was in Hobby Lobby and was bewildered by the selection (black taklon, brown taklon, sable, camel hair, etc.). Don't know if it makes a difference, but wondered if there's a preference. 2). Where do I find Novus? I've tried Lowes, Advance Auto and two supermarkets (Publix and Bi-Lo). If I can't find locally, is there a good substitute?

Thanks, all.

For the novus try a motorcycle shop. The better the paint brush the less brush marks you'll get.

Agreed, but I don't know which brush is 'better' ... they're all the same manufacturer and price -- only difference is the bristle material. That's what I'm confused about.

Keep it simple:
Acrylics are hard on natural fiber brushes, so use synthetics.
You don't need to spend an arm and a leg - they're cheap enough to buy a few to try what you like best.
Smooth flexible hairs avoid brush lines, but there are times you need a stiffer brush for precise control.
Golden taklon are a good versatile choice.
