I only ship my work in crates. I will ship nos stud in cardboard, but if it gets damaged it is the exact spot that yours was broke.
not sure where you buy your wood, but at menards (cheapest) bc 1/4 in plywood is 18.00 a sheet. 1 sheet /2 pf's then you need 1x material which is like 3.50 for a 8 ft, and 20% gets chucked because it is crap. then screws/staples and polyurethane glue. They cost me about 26 each in materials and I can make 20 in 2 days.
BUT: one of mine has gone to the west coats and back 11 times, with only slight touch up necessary.
The people who say using a wood crate makes the shippers toss them around more. First I used to work at ups and I disagree, second, I have NEVER had a pf damaged with one of my crates since I started making them about 6 years ago.
SORRY FOR THE LOSS. There are a couple ways to deal with that fracture Daniel, gimmie a text if you need help
