Quoted from bkaelin:

I've got a TAF (not the one that I am currently troubleshooting).
Really excellent original playfield. No mansion wear, no magnet burn. Plays excellent, lots of new parts, flipper rebuild, LEDs, new MPU and power supply boards, Pinball Pro subwoofer, Fester mod, Cloud Topper LED mod, magnet fuses, full Cliffys, new rubber all around, cabinet is original and nice with some wear. PM if you are interested. Cheers! and Happy New Year.

Request by PM location of additional photos for evaluation, after initial contact.
"Cash and Carry", if this is what I am looking for in my third TAF.
I need to know if this machine is worth my time and travel doing a technical inspection on overall.

For trade Demolition Man. Works well. Handles look great. Game is clean but not shopped. Some rubbers are old. Flippers are solid and recently rebuilt.

Looking for trades for other wpc, stern or possibly sega. Can put cash on top. Looks like color DMD just did this game too.

I'm gonna have a Black Knight for sale in Seattle in a few months, but it's too much of a project at the moment, I need to get it up and running first.

Gauging local interest in my TAF. Looking to sell it for the right price --which is 5,200 firm.
Installed:
Flip Fidel. Speaker upgrade
Blue Topper LED lights
Magnet Fuse kit
Vault cliffy & chair scoop cliffy.
Pinball Bulbs LED kit (+spotlights and apron / back strip lighting) {see their site, my addams is the example picture for the LED kit}
Chair Scoop & swamp scoop lights (red & yellow)
Vault scoop lights (red & yellow)
Custom purple stone shooter Rod/ball
backboard lightning bolt decal
bookcase circular decal to match surrounding area
thing box painted black inside and decaled outside with black and "thing" on top
Topside torn down, cleaned & waxed, re-rubbered about a year ago.

Great player's condition. Small chip in clear over "power" insert, couple mansion room edges have very slight wear along with bear kick insert. Cab has pretty normal wear for players machine. German coin door (reimported 15+ years ago, and former owner had in his basement for last 14 years before I had it). Playfield is very clean and crisp. Thing flips opto just went out and I will install new one before sale, or deduct price accordingly.

Please PM me for more information. Can send pictures if you provide email. Local sale = donation to pinside

#1778 3 years ago

Also up for grabs -- a nice wcs94 for 2500. Led kit, full cliffs set (half are installed), new glass, torn down, cleaned, rerubbered about 8 months ago. Target decals installed. Pf is purty. Only wear at holes scoop and goal. Running good! Normal yellow fading on cab.

Doesn't seem to be too many posts about Oregon (portland/vancouver WA to be exact), but figured this is a good thread to post in.

So me and my wife vacationed in Portland. OR about a year ago, actually we are flying in again this friday for a week to go during the worst weather period (which is still way nicer than Chicago is right now). Basically we LOVE the area and the culture and are seriously planning on moving there in the next 2-5 years. Last time we were out there we checked out ground kontrol, some local bar pinball, voodoo donut. Wondering what the collector scene is like (beyond just looking at a map). Any local clubs or tournaments that happen on a regular basis?

More importantly since homes with basements seem to be a little more obscure than in the midwest, what does everyone do for gamerooms? Does anyone build pole barns to create an arcade outside of the house?

Don't move here. Oregon sucks. The weather sucks. Traffic sucks. Basically, we live in a shithole, you don't want to be here

P.s - Basements are everywhere here

#1782 3 years ago

If you do move be sure to load up an extra semi trailer with pins when you come, they are harder to find and more expensive out here.

Good to know.. homes I see on zillow, maybe 1 out of 5 specifically list a basement. nearly every home out here has one.

There is a Pinball tax for moving here. You are required to give me 1-3 pins of my choosing. I'll be gentle and just take 2. Welcome!

As far as basements go...
Most older homes have them and new homes do not.

Our real estate market has dramatically risen in last few years.

East and West Portland are quite different in prices as well.

The young pinhead crowd (<30) is very large.
Influx of "migrating" people continues to rise all throughout the region.

The larger collectors are generally private for a number a different reasons.

Vast difference in real estate costs dependent on what side of the Columbia you reside.

People build homes with finished basements on HIGH ground to keep out the water and moisture if they collect significant number of machines. Older homes with basements do not mix with pinball, unless you want them to rot.

Otherwise, collectors keep them in a separate facility or sealed weather garage with good drainage.

Expect to experience a different "culture" here with plenty of chronic heads.

Interesting.. in the midwest we get some pretty good downpours, so nearly every home (at least in the burbs) has a sub-pump that drains to lower ground. Seems like for the most part that area is more of a constant drizzle in the winter? I would imagine older homes never dealt with moisture, wonder if you could seal up the foundation with dryloc and install drain tiles without too much effort? I'll try to stick to homes on a hill

I've watched every episode of portlandia, if that's any indication by what you mean I'm good with that

Dependent on winter and spring temperatures it can be constant rain in the wet season. It rained nearly everyday here constantly (much more than a drizzle) for 10 weeks straight to give an indication.

It is more than Portlandia with culture.
Expect to see Captain Jack Sparrow (with tricorn hat) at the bustop smoking his doobie and the "nightcrawlers" coming out at midnight.
Some people like it, some people tolerate, and some people do not.

comparing wikipedia pages, chicago gets between 37-39 inches of rain per year, portland gets 36. If 10 weeks of nearly non-stop rain means a bunch of sunny days in a row, I'm ok with that (especially if snow is a rarity, like 6 times in 100 years). Also if you count days of sun, we are pretty much in alignment too.

Everyday is halloween, my kind of town

If you mention Portlandia that disqualifies you from moving here. Ever.

Sorry dude!

tons of basements here. i'd say most homes have them. my basement is a finished apartment that I rent out on VRBO and there's a couple of pins in it.
next time you're here, make sure you visit "C bar" in SE PDX. it's a bar with great food and of course great beer which PDX is known for, but also around 15 pins or so.

Here's a post for EM collectors: A woman locally (Gig Harbor area) is selling a 1973 Gottlieb High Hand wedgehead pinball machine. I can get photos and will post soon. The glass appears to be in decent shape (better than most I've seen, with only a little flaking), maybe a 7/10. The playfield, too, is in decent shape and just needs a good cleaning and waxing.

The game is complete and plays but needs a good tune-up, and the cabinet is pretty beat-up (a collector would want to repaint it).

She's asking $600 for it but is negotiable to a point. If you're interested, let me know and I can pass along her email address.

Thanks guys,

Mark
