I got a deal on a for parts MBT 350. I was hoping I may be able to fix it. I just powered it up and it seems to work. I desoldered some pins on a junk board and it makes my Hakko seem like a toy. I would like to get some larger desolder tips. It also came with I think the solder pen and some SMD tweezers, both missing catridges. Can anyone recommend what tips and parts to have on hand for this unit? Thanks!.

    Ed.

Through hole rework tools are fast becoming obsolete. I'd get the parts diagram and buy everything you think you might need like filters, reed valves, etc. even a spare heating element would be good.

    I don't have a Pace so I can't be more specific.

Agree with Chris - especially the heater element. I found one recently for $35 and was thrilled. Pace is the Cadillac of solder removal tools. Keep an eye on Epay for parts.

Make sure you keep the tips tinned for longer life. If you have anti-sieze, use it before inserting the tips in the removal tool.

Once you've used pace, you can't go back!

Very good equipment. For soldering i switched to JBC but desoldering is Pace my all time favourite.
Clean up after use is a must. Parts search can be a puzzle sometimes because the partnumbers changed a couple of times, and not everything is interchangeable.

I have some filters in the cart. I'm more looking to see what tips I should have on hand. They are expensive and I don't want to buy the wrong ones.

For desoldering, there are a handful of .04 in the box. This seems to be a good size for general board work. I would like a larger one as well. I have a .1 on my Hakko that is good for larger components. Single tips seem to start at $30. I see a tip kit with what appears to be 8 tips for $60. I may have to send them an email. Maybe the $30 is for more than one?

I have ETA 1/16 screwdriver tip on my Weller and I like it for general purpose. The 1/16" they picture doesn't look the same at all, it looks huge.

Yes, I'm glad I looked. I think I was looking at tips for SX-100. Not sure if they are the same.
