Hey everyone, I picked up a meteor late last year and haven’t started on it yet, but it has the sticker on the apron and the playfield is in amazing condition. Anyway, just curious if anyone knows about this PAA and it’s history.

Yes it’s an organization started by designer Steve Kirkland, there’s information floating around here and there, you could do a forum search, most meteors have this sticker I’ve seen 3 in a row. There was also the World Pinball Association at one point in time. IFPA may have more information on the history of competitive pinball.

Quoted from Dr_Dude:

This sticker was also on Nineball: http://ipdb.org/showpic.pl?id=1678&picno=66565
The Pinball Association of America was an initiative of Steve Kirk (he was its President and founder), and he stated that Meteor and Nineball were "selected for tournament play" (in this case, "selected" by Steve Kirk!). It's kind of interesting, and yes that's the way the games came from the factory, so a full restore would include this sticker.

Quoted from erichill:

You can see the sticker on the apron in this picture:

Did anyone call the hotline # back in the day?

Quoted from semicolin:

That was an ad for the Pinball Association of America. Steve Kirk was the founder and president...

Crazy. I was just talking about the exact same sticker on my Meteor about 2 hours ago with my parents.

Steve Kirk designed Meteor and Nine Ball and most of these pins had these stickers.

GorillaBiscuits made some PAA stickers last year.
