Quoted from Aurich:The problem is the P3 is basically incapable of broad change. So there's no real incentive to take systemic feedback to heart. You can't say "you know, we actually have a way to do that thing this guy struggled with, but clearly we need to make it easier to understand or access" when your hardware base has to remain the same in order to stay backwards compatible.
The Platform has gone through tons of change ever since the very beginning. We go to shows. We read forums. We talk to players and customers. We absorb so much feedback all the time and are always looking for ways to improve the system. Every single game has brought new ideas, execution, and capabilities to the platform, and often those ideas are addressing that feedback and criticism that we have gotten from the community.
So it is patently false that the P3 is incapable of broad change. It just has not executed the specific change that you would personally prefer to see, in the specific way that you want to see it. In your opinion, our incredible 3 axis ball grabbing, dangling, flinging, bashable crane mech in Heist doesn’t count. The addition of the upper flipper mechs and the additional geometry they enable doesn’t count. The extended 6-way lift ramp on Weird Al doesn’t count. The static inserts augmented by animated effects to enhance the experience, and incredible ship that can launch 3 balls at the player in half a second in Final Resistance doesn't count. As best as I can tell from your sincere desire to help us improve, what you want is a pop bumper close to the flippers and other close features, or you prefer that the P3 ditch the screen and wall/scoop assembly entirely and just become another painted piece of wood playfield machine like every other machine on the market.
Well the latter isn’t trying to improve anything, it’s saying “don’t be a P3” so let’s not pretend that’s constructive criticism in the slightest. For the former, that’s fine, draw your line in the sand there. But I’ve played this game enough to know that when we eventually do check that criticism off the list, there is a very high likelihood that the goal posts will just move again.
The team here at Multimorphic has worked incredibly hard to make some very compelling games on this amazing platform and that hard work is paying off as the platform is gaining traction with every new release. This is the only product on the market where every new release improves the value proposition of your existing purchase, and people are starting to see that. Your argument is that the screen offers no value, and that everyone here is just shouting down criticisms because they never want the machine to change and improve. That’s nonsense.
With that being said, anyone who has real, constructive feedback for the games and the system, we welcome it all. Michael just heard a color blind pinsider commenting on having trouble with the different color inserts in Final Resistance and he’s already implemented code to address that. We can’t promise we will implement every suggestion, but we do listen.
Speaking of Final Resistance, I hope many of you will come check it out at TPF. It really is a special game.
