Hi guys,

I am trying to revive a SW Ep1 for a friend, but I have never owned a pinball 2000 and I am quite lost...

Right now it's not booting.

The computer inside can be heard powering on, several leds in it are red.
Only 5 of the LEDs on the driver board are on (see pic).

Screen is on but there is no pic.
No GI.

Any idea on what to check?
I looked here but did not find anything

Many thanks in advance!

The LEDs under the fuses typically indicate bad fuses.

If you pop out those fuses and test them with a multimeter, do they test bad? If so, go ahead and replace them.

At initial power on, LEDs 15-17, LEDs 3, 8-10 are on. After about 15 seconds, the monitor screen will turn from white to black (and the text "TESTING" will appear), and all remaining LEDs (LEDs 4-7, LEDs 11-14) will come on (assuming the coin door is closed), and the Health LED2 will start to blink. Note if LED16 (+12 volts, the GREEN LED) is out, +5 volts LED17 will be missing too. Without LED16, the whole game is pretty much dead.

Assuming the system is not communicating with the playfield - the PC is not booting into the proper sequence

Reset the PRISM card - Check P/S on PC (Replaced)
Section - 4.5 Motherboard Issues - Bad caps?

Validating if the computer is OK:
Remove the PRISIM card and install a VGA monitor - the computer should now boot like a standard PC. Video should be seen on the computer monitor and then "No boot device found" which is OK. If there is nothing then you can troubleshooting the computer P/S/Caps, reset Mem.

All fuses are tested good.

Thanks, will check that.
Main issue will be to find a VGA monitor

So far it only lits up those leds, nothing else, coin door closed.

found a VGA screen:
have absolutely nothing on screen with or without the Prism card

all caps seem good.

Changed the batteries

power supply is delivering +10 and -10 instead of +12 and -12, every other values are ok.

Replaced the 6.3v 1000 uf caps => no change in behaviour.
Other caps really seem fine, and those pads are freakingly small, changing more is also a risk.

Installed a RFM computer into the SW Ep1: it's all good.

Issue is cleatly with the computer.
Does anyone know of a place with info on how to troubleshoot them?
