Thank you for your hesitant participation.

    EDIT:
I'm quite aware that $10k is a lot of money to the majority, I don't need to see the result of adding "none" as an option.
You don't have to participate in the voting. This poll is for a certain demographic.
And the pins would be more high-tech to warrant the price in case you're on the edge of buying at such a crazy price.

    #2 5 years ago

None. No games are worth $10K. But if the poll was just for the theme I would like the best out of the poll, it's Jaws hands down.

    #4 5 years ago

All of them… hell make it 20k!

    #5 5 years ago

none at 10k. If I had 10k, I'd already be on preorder for lebowski. I still voted for muppets as a theme I'd like to see.

    #6 5 years ago

I'de pay 10K for Big Juicy Melons before any of the poll choices.
1980 is calling and they better have their prices for their themes.

    #7 5 years ago

    None of the above!

    #9 5 years ago

Agree with the rest of the crowd. Sorry but not a fan of the titles you picked at $10K

    #10 5 years ago

You have to read the Jaws thread to understand these choices. The Muppets and the Jim Henson charm became an issue.

Ben Heck didn't like the debate of Jaws vs Muppets, and thought the choice should be between Big Trouble in Little China vs Army of Darkness.

Then the debate became about kiddy themes vs more mature themes and what would work best in the market (which is why the choices are divided in 2, first 3 for an older crowd, last 3 for the young at heart who like puppetry).

The $10k idea is mine, I want to make sure I'm aiming at a certain demo, because pin prices are heading there (Hobbit SE @ 9k)

    #11 5 years ago

I think you messed up your poll with the price. I wouldn't pay 10 grand for any pinball machine, but I'd consider the normal Pro/Premium price for Jaws.

Army of Darkness holds some appeal, Gremlins a little less. The rest are garbage to me.

    #12 5 years ago

Australians are already paying $10k. My condolences to them.

    #13 5 years ago

I'd buy a Jaws or Muppets pro model if Stern were to make either of them (for mid 4k not 10k)

    #14 5 years ago

Army of darkness = instant buy

    #15 5 years ago

And another vote for none. 10k gets LOTR, TSPP, and a classic Bally SS. Those would be better as a group. Just because I've paid 8k for a game in the past doesn't mean I'll pay 10 in the future. There just isn't enough value there no matter what the theme is.

Why is None not an option?

To shake out the weak hands. If you're not passionate about a theme or you don't have enough money, then you vote by not voting, I just don't need to know how many of you there are because I know you're the majority, but the majority doesn't decide the market because the market is already highway robbery.

Those who decide the successes of the NIB market are just richer than the rest of us.

    +1

Make that a choice and watch what happens to your poll

    #19 5 years ago

Big Trouble in Little China is my favorite of these themes...but I wouldn't pay even close to 10K for it.

And that's why I didn't include that option. It's too predictable. I'm aiming for a certain demographic.

    #21 5 years ago

Definitely Jaws. Long overdue theme and not enough water themes out there. However, Army of Darkness & Dark Crystal are solid though. No love for Dark Crystal?! Kill the Skeksis!

    #22 5 years ago

None for 10k.....unless it had 10k worth of gold on it.

It would have a nice translite atleast:

    None

Theme I would like to see is Led Zeppelin.

Agreed. So please nobody make a beautiful, fun pin of it. I don't really have the space and I don't want to spend the cash. In fact, please no more horror themed pins. I don't want to be tempted.

And the 10k in the poll is absurd! Nobody's paying 10k. Well until I add a shaker, new armor, side panels, mods that light up features that can't be seen, etc.

    #26 5 years ago

Dude, nobody in their right mind would pay $10K for a pin based on a theme. ESPECIALLY any of those themes.

It's not about money, it's about sanity.

    #27 5 years ago

    Nope nope nope.

Relax, bro. Just don't vote. Australians are already paying that price.
And in the U.S., Hobbit SE is $9k. So we're getting there.

    Quoted from HunchbackHodler:

I didn't. And I can't relax, the thought of Jaws terrorizing me in my game has me all riled up!!!

    #30 5 years ago

    PS

Add The Goonies as an option and I'll vote!!!

    #31 5 years ago

While I wouldn't pay $10 grand for a pin (so the poll is not for me), I don't understand the influence a theme alone would have on me. A fun game is one thing, an interesting theme on a bad game is another.

    #32 5 years ago

    Add SpongeBob and I'll vote.

    #33 5 years ago

    Blade Runner?

    #34 5 years ago

None. These should all be able to be done quite well at 8K...

    #35 5 years ago

Huge Dark Crystal fan here, and so far the only vote for it! But I'll toss in my petulant 2 cents here as well and join the "pinball is too damn expensive already" chorus. I like to think I wouldn't pay 10K for a game even if I had the money!

    #36 5 years ago

This poll needs to be move to the "Rich and Ridiculous" subforum. Did I say that out loud?

Yeah... 10k is a very large fraction of what I make in a year haha

The closest thing we have to that is the "JPOP update thread"

Life styles of the rich and ... well not really famous, but they're definitely rich.

Which would make your game close to $15k by the time it gets here
Muppets or Gremlins might get my money if they were much cheaper, BUT I am tired of games with themes well past their use by date

    #40 5 years ago

Sorry drew the line at 8k. TWD LE still came in delivered well under that. TBL was the most but factoring the Chrome package and rug that I would have bought it technically still met my criteria.

    Are you in the demographic?

Seems like people in the demographic want the option of "none"

    +1

    #43 5 years ago

    None
I will want game that show innovation
I want something that has not been seen before
Your titles look backwards , a backwards looking company will not be innovative

One that I am not part of. If pinball keeps on rehashing old themes instead of moving forward with new and original ones, it will die.

You look at the 70s and 80s, pinball at the time was turnened upside down
Fresh themes, great art, trying new features, thinking outside the box

    Those were the days

Yeah, but 'now' seems to be the last 10 years

    #48 5 years ago

I'd pay $25K for a Frank Zappa or Buckethead pin.

WOZ is looking waaaaayyy back and it is still quite innovative...

    Id argued that
Most of woz's 'inovative' features do not interact with the ball
Most of them are simple toys that move when a score is made, the witch, the house, crystal ball , trees
    And it continues with Smaug
