This guy made some Real Pinball Games that weren't an average cookie cutter design. Figured I'd start a poll on what's your favorite.
Mine is BSD. Can't play it enough due to the dark theme, stackable multi ball, mist, sounds and harsh out-lanes.
I'm trying to like DH more, but can't see why yet.
What do you think? Couldn't fit all in poll, but what are some exceptions?

#2 2 years ago

Tough tough one for me betwixed DH & Space Shuttle. Closed my eyes and picked DH.

BSD should win this by a mile for some reason.

Pinbot is probably a big one you are missing that is a classic.

Man I might go Time Fantasy if it were up there.

#3 2 years ago

Pinbot for me.

#4 2 years ago

Grand Lizard.
Your poll is broken... Better go see a urologist.

#5 2 years ago

Yeah, I was going to put Pinot, but wanted space in the poll for DW and Junkyard.

#6 2 years ago

Popeye which should be on the list.

#7 2 years ago

I voted Junkyard but I also enjoy playing Jackbot and Who Dunnit

#8 2 years ago

BSD, but I love me some Space Shuttle and Pinbot.

I thought about who dunnit, but Dwight Sullivan did a lot with that tittle and there was only so much poll space.

#10 2 years ago

Next time I see Barry at lunch, I,ll ask him what HIS favorite is.

I think Hurricane is one of the most underrated games.

#14 2 years ago

Cosmic Gunfight for me.

Still one of my favorite games of all time.

So many undisputed classics. Space Shuttle saved the pinball industry for a while and Jungle Lord, Fire and Jack-Bot are all great players. But I adore my Junk Yard!

#17 2 years ago

Popeye! Everyone hates on it but its got great rules and a fun layout.

Junk yard is so junky, but the humor along with the clutter makes this such an interesting design.

#19 2 years ago

Mediocre.

I'll go with Jackbot, but that's down to the amazing software Barry had nothing to do with. Drac would be #2. Doctor who 3. Space shuttle is fun, so is cyclone.

Fire Is one of the worst playfield layouts of the modern era.

Yes, but the art and bell ring (or is it a ding, wish it was louder) really pulls it together for a novice player. It is pretty and the limited one has cool fire effects.

I got to play Orbitor 1 once and received a headache. That's the worst playfield ever.

#21 2 years ago

Barracora, Pinbot, Time Warp, Space Station...........................

Junky? I think you mean it has a lot of character.
I find it find it as sturdy as any B/W of its era and the artwork is fun and colorful. The toys are well crafted too.

#23 2 years ago

His next one

Quoted from TopMoose:

Junky? I think you mean it has a lot of character.

Every time I walk away from it there is something new for me to see and remember. Like the devil or toaster or Vw bus. Its like one of those triped out comercials that are so crazy/junky it gets you to think about it 15 min later.

Example, the bees in the wendys commercial or a bar with the crazy/junky shelf of stuff from owner and customers. All and all it does build character.

Quoted from RCA1:

Barracora, Pinbot, Time Warp, Space Station...........................

All good ones... wish there was more space in poll. Though, I do have a hard time with the slings in space station, but I just tell myself to play better.

#25 2 years ago

pinbot....

Worse than Barracora?

#27 2 years ago

Poll options are fail. Intent is good of course.
Nearly half of my collection is from the great BO.
Barracora, Defender, Grand Lizard and Space Shuttle are top-10 solid state pins.

End transmission.

Pin•bot

How is that not on the poll

It's always been Pin•Bot

#29 2 years ago
Quoted from InfiniteLives:

How is that not on the poll

Because the OP wants to give us "just the tip", instead of the massive base that Barry Oursler is known for.

#30 2 years ago

Dirty Harry has got to be the best game he designed--so far off the radar it has disappeared...

#31 2 years ago

If we are talking about overall design, definitely not Doctor Who. One of the most poorly engineered B/W games released, as anyone who has had to work on the game will undoubtedly agree...

#32 2 years ago

Dirty Harry for me ! Owned for 8 years ...going nowhere. Very under rated.

Had BSD, sold after couple years - its a great machine but not enough going on beyond stacking those multiballs.

Shout out to poor old Popeye. Way more to this game than most of the haters will take time to recognise.

#33 2 years ago

Jungle Lord

#34 2 years ago

My vote goes to BSD, but I REALLY like BadCats and Dirty Harry

#35 2 years ago

Bad cats is my daughters favorite game! Wish i could find one close by to get her

#36 2 years ago

Bad Cats is awesome.

Seeeafooood.

#37 2 years ago

Popeye, easily.

Missing Pinbot and Popeye doesn't make it much of a poll on Oursler.

*Python Anghelo did a lot with the Pinbot, Jackbot and Machine/Bride series and I wanted to include it like the Comet series in the poll, but Ousler did not work on Bride so I left it out of the poll. It was thought of when I was putting the poll together.

Yeah, I guess the poll is "just the tip" of Oursler work. All his playfields are so unique and I wanted to get a sense of what others thought of them.

#39 2 years ago

Dude does not get enough credit. Practically saved pinball with Space Shuttle back in the 80s, only to let go by Williams a decade later out of nowhere. People are always touting Ritchie and Lawlor as being the pinball kings, but Oursler is the man. Barracora!!!

#40 2 years ago

Pin*Bot again. Why is this not in the poll????

#41 2 years ago

Why, Pin*Bot of course.

#42 2 years ago

Voted BSD but would rather add Space Shuttle to a collection

#43 2 years ago

Space shuttle with its sound alone. Loved the set up on this game. Oursler made games great with an adventurous layout. Were there any unfinished games he was working before he was let go from b/w?

#44 2 years ago

Wait... Has nobody mentioned Gorgar? GORGAR, you guys! First talking pinball machine! Groundbreaking and super fun!

If you attend Pintastic New England 2017, you can hear him talk, get autographs, and thank him in person. His seminar is Saturday afternoon, July 8th.

The show is in Sturbridge, MA. Barry seldom goes to East Coast shows.

Any answer on this--assuming you and BO do lunch now and again...

#47 1 year ago

I've owned 6 of his games and the two that would be at the top of my list just happened to be two that are not on your voting list, Cosmic Gunfight and Jungle Lord (in case you are wondering, I have owned those two as well as DH, Comet, Space Shuttle and also another one not on your list - Space Station).
