I understand what you're saying, for sure. However, maybe this would be an "I insist" situation on the part of Stang. Maybe a donor is found and they say "Thanks, but no thanks" to the machine. Stang says, "I really appreciate that, but I insist that you take the machine. If I could have donated, I would have, but I couldn't. So, my Judge Dredd is my sacrifice."
That would be satisfactory, wouldn't it.
Semantics aside, I hope for the best.
