Quoted from TheLaw:

Haha! By defeating Aikman, Smith, & Irvin!

I literally have no recollection of that whatsoever! Was that when they had Scott .. Matthews(?) as QB?

Quoted from Erik:

Eric Kramer.
EDIT: Seems Aikman was out of the game and Beurline started so I gotta change that.
Although they beat them during the season with Aikman.

#37453 2 years ago

dammm, do not remember that either. Maybe sort of the name? I have my doubts about this Lions history!

#37454 2 years ago
Quoted from Erik:

Scott .. Matthews

no way! Who is Erik Kramer?

Erik Kramer played 13 games and helped them reach 12-4?

same here. We almost had a Bills-Lions Superb Owl ?! weird...

#37456 2 years ago

He left to replace Harballs as Bears qb.
Decent career

#37457 2 years ago

That Lions team was pretty good. They had Sanders, Spielman, Benny Blades I think? I believe that was the year Rodney Peete went down.

#37458 2 years ago

Crazy I don't remember that season. Now I'm wondering wtf else happened in 1991 that I may be missing! This is like Total Recall without Sharon Stone's shenanigans

Nobody remembers the 1991 season, which is a shame.

That Redskins team that demolished the Falcons, Lions, and Bills in the playoffs was one of the best in history. Most of their games were lopsided wins, the only game they lost was a close one to the upstart Cowboys (the same weekend Freddie Mercury died...I remember that!). Well they also lost a garbage time game to the Eagles with most of their starters resting but that don't count.

I was lucky enough to attend three home games that season, a Monday Night ass whuppin' of the Eagles, a mauling of the Cleveland Dirtbags, and an OT thriller against the Oilers.

Gulf War (the first one) may have overshadowed things a bit.

Whitney Houston and wide fuckin right.

Gulf War hangover, then. But God bless Whitney Houston.

The Lions of the early 90s were actually a good team. The almighty Green Bay Packers knocked them out in the wildcard round in a couple of close ones. If it weren't for Favre, they may have actually ruled the 'central' for a while.

I really don't know why that 1991 Redskins team is so overlooked - if you look at the stats there was some wholesale domination going on that year. They really were one of the best 3 or 4 teams of the Super Bowl era.

It was bad timing, a bridge season between the 80s heyday of the 49ers, Giants, and Redskins, and the Cowboys near-dynasty and the rest of the 90s.

A little Barry Sanders goes a long way!

They went from 12-4 to 5-11 the next season? That I don't remember. How very Lionish.

It is easier to forget the ones who won once. I assumed SF won the NFC when thelaw said Detroit was in the NFCCG and beat Dallas.

Still wild Detroit 12-4

Three 5-11 seasons over 8 years still seems consistent with the brand though.

It was their 3rd in 9 years!!!!

But yeah only one of the 90s. Or any other decade since then.

next one of you trolling chuckleheads will claim New England won a superbowl

#37471 2 years ago

NFL Network has been playing some classic playoff matchups. Just ending now is the "the catch" game. About a minute left when they executed that play to go up a single point. Cowboys drove to midfield before giving up a sack fumble to end it. Sort of funny those other critical plays that get lost.

Maybe the biggest trip is seeing guys in ties in the stands, and people setting off fireworks. A different time.

Who do you have this weekend? I have Bengals, Bills, Buccaneers, 49ers, Chiefs, and Cardinals.

#37477 2 years ago
Quoted from pyrotech:

have this weekend

Bag of chips...
paired with
Box of tissues...

Maybe a chew toy or a straight jacket.

Raiders couldn't stop Mixon -- 123 yards last meeting.
We had Waller AND Jacobs that day -- our top 2 threats who have been in and out this year.

If both of those guys were out for THAT match, I'd be more optimistic about tomorrow.

#37478 2 years ago
Quoted from pyrotech:

I have all of those teams marked as standing a chance, but for sure I know the Packers and Titans will not be eliminated this weekend.

(just kidding)

As far as the Super Bowl, I just hope a team wins it, that has never won it before, like maybe the Bills.

Bills can win 'easily' if Allen is ready to run all over the fucking place.

#37481 2 years ago

I'll tell you what I would appreciate ;
a 1pm Saturday game instead of a 8pm Monday night game.

#37482 2 years ago

I just created a playoff confidence pool if anyone is interested:

https://www.officefootballpool.com/pools.cfm?poolid=192717&p=2&pwd=@9r*hh

Not sure how degenerate we all are... I was thinking $50 for an entry (max 1 entry)? Payout 80/20. There's a $10 fee minimum, or $1 per person to run it through this site. It's the site I'm on for the regular season, and I'm not too interested in starting on another. Kind of last minute, but let me know if people would be more interested with some alterations.

Do these 3 steps by gametime to be in:

1. Follow this link:

2. Enter these parameters:

Pool ID Number: 192717
Pool Entry Code: @9r*hh

3. PayPal $50 here:

And don't forget to lock your selections by game time (select your winners, and assign each game a value).

#37483 2 years ago

Ah this is why they didn't have a Saturday early game; so I could figure out how to gamble.

I'm in for the $50 I won from Jaybird's horrible faith in Carston Wentz. Just think aboot that for a second....bwahaha.

And yes, I changed his name to 'Carston' because he deserves it

If I say one game is a 6 is that mean I’m most confident in that one?

Looks like it yessir.

Confidence pickem is where you put points on every pick, like 16 for your highest rated pick down to 1 for your lowest rated pick. The pool manager is able to customize the confidence points available.
