I more or less give Tua a pass for last game. Tough weather for a QB, they got down quickly, he was constantly harassed, and they have no running game. Maybe a mobile QB like Watson could have made something happen but that's a tall order.

On top of that the zero blitz got exposed for what it is -- only effective against terrible offenses -- and frequently resulted in short runs becoming long ones.

If you've paid any attention at all to the "no native american mascot movement," it's not about the "slang name," it's about the entire concept of co-opting the Native American culture to sell football jerseys. THe leaders of the movement didn't say, "get rid of Redskins and the rest is A-ok with us," they want it all gone.

I don't think it's a tough concept - Native Americans don't want their culture trivialized and mocked by being used as a mascot for a bunch of fat drunk white people on Sundays or any other day of the week.

KC has buy in from the local tribes, getting the drum blessed before games and banning headdresses. Is that enough? I'm not sure. Not up to me. As long as the people represented by the name are cool with it, I don't see much reason for my pasty ass to be upset.

I'll be honest, for me it was a pretty long process. If you asked me 20 years ago, I'd tell you, if they changed the name, it would be like I wouldn't have a team any more. The idea was so ridiculous and foreign. You grow pretty attached to "tradition" after a couple decades or so, and get tunnel vision.

Of course after a while it really became clear it wasn't a big deal, it was just a name. And yes, the past 30 years of failure kind of had me hoping for a clean slate.

The REAL tipping point was when I noticed that people most vehemently against changing the name were either Cowboys fans or people whose politics I found personally despicable. When the loudest arguments for NOT changing the name seemed to be coming from the Fox News comments sections, I knew it was time to switch things up.

May the process go smoothly for you. In the end, I think you'll embrace it!

We have been over this before in this thread a while back. Changes come and happen. It is what it is. The good thing is that the crew in charge in KC are taking active steps and being engaged. Its not at all the same as with the crew under Snyder. I am truly thankful for not having to deal with someone like that in charge of the team I grew up with.
