Quoted from Deaconblooze:

I watched my sister-in-law's mma dbag boyfriend attack some poor unsuspecting bastard holding her hand at her twin sisters wedding. Just snuck up behind him like a real tough guy, slip, and bam, guy was out and dropped. He fell and hit his head on concrete, and got a subsequent concussion from that.
And congratulations are in order, they're now engaged!!

Who's engaged? Your sister and the mma dbag? Your sister and the unsuspecting bastard? The mma dbag and the unsuspecting bastard? Your post is ambiguous.

MMA dbag and my sister-in-law. Now he's uncle mma dbag.

Was this the SIL I met when your cousin was passed out under your piano? If so, I want to be surprised, but maybe I am not so much? LOL
So much winning, at least your family events will never be boring.

"Uncle Jerry just threw grandma through the sliding door again...."

"I just replaced that sliding door over Thanksgiving, damnit!"

That's the one!

Just to round this all out, that SIL was previously married. Her mom fell for her ex-husband's dad. They each divorced their longtime spouses and are now engaged to each other. I like to point out to my SIL that her ex-husband is also her brother-in-law.

Holy shit.... using this new information, is it safe to say your SIL's MMA boyfriend is soon going to be married to her ex-husband's Father? Progressive man, very progressive. This family is the gift that keeps on giving.

Don’t care how many people can’t stand Tom Brady, he is a class act ,,,,if you saw the video of him seeking out Drew Brees after the game , giving him a hug, along with his wife, and throwing the football to Brees kid in the end zone , shows he’s a great person as well as one of the best QB’s that have ever played the game ,, this all coming from a Saints fan

#29060 3 years ago

What do Qbs usually do before a game? Fight each other and spit on their kids?

Might want to start one before that, might make more sense. Or not.

#29065 3 years ago

I'm hoping this doesn't turn into a Brady love/hate thread for 5 days straight.
MERCY!

#29066 3 years ago

I don’t need to be enlightened. Could really care less. Go Bucs!

Class acts aren't caught multiple times cheating to such a degree that they lose draft picks and have the league burn the evidence before an impartial investigation can be conducted.

www.yourqbcheats.com!!!!

Man I kinda miss that guy. It really is fucking astounding how the Patriots fans fled here like rats off a sinking ship. ONE fucking 7-9 season and they aren't football fans any more.

It was never Tom Brady that annoyed me, just the vile, useless Patriots fans enjoying a 20-year bandwagon and jumping off it at the first hint of a rough ride.

I mean, yourteamcheats dot com guy was a true NFL thread turboposter, trolling about brady, the pats, and that stupid fucking website like 8 times a day. And he's gone like a fart in the wind!!!!!

That's Pats Nation for ya!

#29069 3 years ago

Still a class act,,,, sorry Brady hater ,,,,six rings proves it ,,, and what he did after the game does too !!

I wonder who the best CAREER backup QBs of all time are...

I think what makes this tough, is that the boundaries between career backup and NOT a career backup can be fuzzy...

How you define a great career backup QB?
At what point do you disqualify someone as a career backup QB?

Don Strock, 15 years, 5349 yards is an example what comes to mind as a career backup.

I would propose:
* Long career
* Low yards
* No full seasons as starter

years/yards/full-season-starts

Frank Reich: 13, 6000, 0
Jeff Rutledge: 13, 3600, 0
Chase Daniel: 11, 1600, 0
David Humm: 10, 750, 0
Gary Kubiak: 9, 1900, 0

No no no! We do not need another 5 pages of useless trivia on this thread.

#29072 3 years ago

Mama always said, "Don't poop on another man's idea, unless you have a better idea to fill time for 5 days -- until the AFC and NFC Championship games."

#29073 3 years ago

Did you cancel playing "Mad Libs" in the back seat on long car rides too !?!?

#29074 3 years ago

Damnit. Another asst coach poached from the Rams. First there was Matt Lefleur, now the chargers took dc Brandon Staley. They also tried to take oc Kevin O’Connell but McVay was able to block that. Not that I needed another reason to despise the chargers, but this kicks it up a notch.

At least come up with a decent premise. I mean, who cares about best backups, or qbs that made it to conference championships with two different teams or leagues? Your topic is basically who’s the best loser. It’s an oxymoron, because there are no best backup qbs. If they were any good they would be one of the 32 starting for a team.

* Low games started (but how low -- this could be the tricky stat)

Not sure he fits your criteria, but Jim Plunkett led the Raiders to 2 Super Bowls coming off the bench.

Even though I’m cheering for the Bills to go all the way, I hope Mahomes is ok to play on Sunday. Go Bills!

coming off the bench

Exactly! People that come off the bench and then play first-string for years are the opposite of what I'd call a career backup. Many famous QBs "came off the bench" but were not:

Don Strocks

FRANK REICH
10 year backup to HOFer Jim Kelly
Lead NCAA Greatest Comeback in History - 1984 Maryland vs Miami (31 points)
Lead NFL Greatest Comeback in History - 1993 Bills vs Oilers (32 points)
Played in 4 Superbowls
Won Superbowl as a coach (Eagles OC)

Every time Kelly was injured, Reich stepped in & the team never missed a beat, including big late season & huge playoff wins. #1 in my book....for the Comeback records alone. Although I don't think the college one stands anymore.

Oh and GO BILLS this weekend!!!

#29082 3 years ago

Charlie Batch always seemed to get the job done when called upon.

Matt Flynn played so well coming off the bench that he tricked the Seahawks into a crazy contract.

The line is currently chiefs +2 1/2. I wish I were friends with the independent doctor who makes the final decision on whether Mahomes plays or not. If he is ruled out (doubtful), that line will change drastically. Would be nice to get a heads up just before it’s made public.
Bills will win or lose based on that decision.

I mean at least name the longest running -- fewest attempts passer of your team's history.

David Humm
10 years
753 yards

That's 75 yards per year for 10 years -- that has to be top-100

#29085 3 years ago

Frank Reich the immaculate back up.

#29086 3 years ago

YEP -- there have to be a few more Frank Reichs out there.

13 years
6000 yards
461 yards/season
Never started a full season

Has to be in the running...

Wait a sec. Are we sure he never started a season???

9 years
1900 yards -- not bad, but a little short of a career, like david humm

211 yds/season

Honorable mention!

#29090 3 years ago

Hmmm... see this is grey area
11 years
13,000 yards (that's a lot bro)
1180/yds per season -- that's a lot of yards -- period.
a few near-complete seasons.
Are we sure he never started a season?

#29091 3 years ago

Jeff Rutledge !!!!

Had a miracle game for joe Gibbs in 1990 off the bench. And then started the infamous “body bag” game.

Crazy how you remember pointless shit like this.

Went to the super bowl with the Rams, giants, and redskins also.

#29092 3 years ago

bingo.

13 seasons
3600 yards
277 yds/season
no full season starting games

That's gotta be a contender

#29093 3 years ago
Quoted from mof:

3X nfc champ and 2x super bowl champ for his troubles also.

#29094 3 years ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

2x super bowl champ

which ranks him OVER reich in the tie-breaker? Hmm...

years/yards/full-season-starts

Jeff Rutledge: 13, 3600, 0 *
Frank Reich: 13, 6000, 0
Chase Daniel: 11, 1600, 0
David Humm: 10, 750, 0
Gary Kubiak: 9, 1900, 0

* his team won more superbowls

#29095 3 years ago

(At least name your team's most LOYAL backup ever!)

#29096 3 years ago

Josh McCown has had a pretty good career as a backup QB.

#29097 3 years ago

Totally agree, AND he has started a few seasons... that's where the tricky grey-area stuff comes in. Did old-age make him a backup? Or did he have the "what it takes" to become a backup early on, and hold #2... against all odds.

Consider the great George Blanda -- he started for the Oilers for 5-6 seasons and kicked butt, then his AGE made him a backup QB and he mostly did place-kicking until 48.

So I don't think of Blanda as a career Backup (at all)

You can have Zac Taylor back if you want

Wow somebody is talking about topics that ol vic doesn't like so they get downvoted.... Stay classy bro...
