Yes Vikings would be a great story... backup QB that everyone keeps waiting to fail plus playing at home in the SB.

I would like to see the Vikings play the Patriots. See how Zimmer's defense handles Bill's offense or vice versa. It would be interesting!

#9852 1 year ago

I think it would be a curse to play a super bowl in your home stadium. If you lose the game you'll be reminded of the game 8 times a year and would just hang over a team.
Also would be weird to be in the visiting team locker room and on the sideline cause AFC is the home team this year.

Only if you lose... or maybe it would be a motivating factor for years to come!

They've already been to 4 and lost them all, ages ago. Doubt they are fearing any curse. Think it's very cool that the team no one talks about w backup QB and no "starpower" can actually win this thing....

It's amazing what escaping Jeff Fisher can do for a qb!

#9856 1 year ago

Looks like Marvin Lewis is staying in Cincy for 2018........Might be for the best, none of the coaches that would be available would be my choice. I know I'd like to see Mike Brown approach Coach Harbaugh in Michigan and see if he'd be willing to come back to the NFL.

bwhahaahahahahaha...Jesus Cincy; you guys deserve better

#9858 1 year ago

Not announced officially as of yet but, Marvin has said he wants to return and I think so long as he does Mike Brown will back him. Brown is loyal to coaches and players to a fault!

Quoted from Erik:

Isn't that the truth. Just goes to show how truly horrible a coach Fisher is. Two of the best quarterbacks in the league this year were two of the worst quarterbacks in the league last year. Eric Dickerson probably did more for the Rams last year by getting Fisher out of the league than he did as a running back. When McVay answers media questions about his team or opposing teams, he gives very detailed responses. Last year, Fisher answered a question by referencing two players who were no longer on the frickin team. He literally didn't know they were gone, and he had no idea who the Patriots running backs were when asked about how he was going to play against them.

You're right there are no McVays or Shanahans this year.Harbaugh is staying.I was hoping that Elway would reach out to David Shaw from Stanford but appears they are stuck with Vance Joseph.

The Buffalo fans are so happy the Bengals beat the Ravens they have been donating to Andy Dalton's children's foundation to the tune of $57,000 so far with donations still coming in. On behalf of these kids, Thank you Buffalo!!!!!

#9862 1 year ago

Rumor out of Indy is they're going to go hard after David Shaw out of Stanford to team him up with Luck. Harbourgh is another candidate but don't see him leaving Michigan yet.

I don't think it matters as I think Luck is damaged goods and will never be as good as he was when he started. Wilson is leaps and bounds better which would have been blasphemy talk 5 years ago.

Yeah, Luck is probably finished. The curse of the 2012 draft.

Maybe he and RG3 will open a car dealership or something.

Haha. Or a Subway franchise.

2012 was pretty good. Wilson could be a future hall of famer. Cousins has been solid. Case Keenum and Nick Foles are both starting qbs in the playoffs this year. Luck still has a year or 2 to prove himself. Not sure about Tannehill but he does have a hot wife. Actually 2012 was probably one of the better qb drafts in a while.

At least there was 1 good qb to come out of the 2012 draft class...

Kirk Cousins?

How does Hue Jackson still have a job in Cleveland?

#9868 1 year ago

How does....Cleveland?

That's how

Also maybe they thought with Cincy embarrassing themselves it would go unnoticed.

Harbaugh for sure not leaving. Just brought in some more hired guns to improve his horrible record.
Shit man I don't think any big name would want to go to Indy would they? Pill popping owner is a disgrace.

I think my Vikes got a serious shot at winning it all. They just don't make the critical mistakes, and the defense is playing sooo good right now. REALLY hope it happens. After the 1999 and 2009 Championship games, think we're do. . . .

A great defense can always win it all. They have great match ups in the PO so I can see them getting there.

Perfect example of why we suck so bad

#9874 1 year ago

The Vikes ain't never won shit and they aren't gonna win shit. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

As much as it pains me the team to beat is still easily the Patriots. The Vikes will blow it like they always do.

Out of the NFC I like the Rams or the Saints. I'd have said the Eagles...but tough shit cheesesteak town that dream is over.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Well of course they're the team to beat, but we all know a great defense can get them.

I've always liked the Sints but not trusted them. Defense I still don;t, but god damn this Kamura guy is amazing.

#9876 1 year ago

Marvin Lewis gets 2 year contract. Haha. Typical bungles.

Carson Palmer announced his retirement also.

Who should they have hired?

Very few teams have any kind of a solid plan for a coach replacement beyond the Raiders. It's great to fire your guy but then who do you bring in? Doesn't look like a bumper crop for available coach hires this year.

Bengals basically punting this till next year and hope the next Sean McVay shows up. Like the Redskins. Who should have just fired Gruden and promoted the first Sean McVay.

Good Karma is why the Pats will win

#9879 1 year ago

Mike Zimmer in 2014.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

As a long time Vikings sufferer, we have won ALL the shit except the Super Bowl.

I don't disagree w the Patriots being the team to beat for the title, but no way is any NFC team superior to the Vikes this season. Is what it is (yes, they will find a way to lose the big one, but an easy pick to represent the NFC). Truly wish the Eagles would have been at "full strength" so there would be no excuses when they get the hell beat out of them......

#9881 1 year ago

Zimmer's defense will carry the day so long as his offense can avoid turnovers.

They RARELY turn the ball over. Knock on wood.... They can get to the Super Bowl

Quoted from RWH:

Agreed. That's the beauty of this group....no obvious "bounty" targets (Favre vs. New Orleans a few years ago), and no super heroes.

A talented group who play boring, consistent team football. The media still barely recognizes them because of it...watching them change parts consistently on the lines and still dominate was a great thing to watch....if you're a Vikings fan.

No gloating here....been close several times. But man, it would be cool to be the first team to win a superbowl in your own stadium (first time, I believe)

#9884 1 year ago

My favorite debate of the year is here. The 15 finalists for the pro football hall of fame were announced last night.

Who's your picks? You can only choose 5.

LB Ray Lewis
LB Brian Urlacher
RB Edgerin James
WR Randy Moss
WR Terell Owens
WR Issac Bruce
S John Lynch
S Brian Dawkins
CB Everson Wells
CB Ty Law
T Tony Boselli
G Kevin Mawae
T Joe Jacoby
G Steve Hutchinson
G Alan Faneca

My five to make it are:
Lewis
Owens
Lynch
Hutchinson
Jacoby

They typically don't stack positions so I think urlacher and moss will have to wait a year although both are first ballot hof worthy.

#9885 1 year ago

Lewis, Moss, Dawkins, Jacoby, Faneca

#9886 1 year ago

I'd like to see Tony Boselli make it in the Hall. One of the good guys in the league. He does a lot for the community here.

#9887 1 year ago

Moss
Owens
Lewis
Boselli
Fanaca

#9888 1 year ago
Quoted from SteveO:

He was dominant but for a short period of time. Davis making it in last year helps guys like him.

#9889 1 year ago

Huh didn't know he only played 8 seasons. Seemed like forever

Also Davis shouldn't be in

#9890 1 year ago

Lewis Owens Moss James Hutchinson

#9891 1 year ago

Worst Hall of Fame induction for me would be Joe Namath. No argument his stats tell it all, possibly the worst for QB's in the hall.

#9892 1 year ago

Big game means everything.

#9893 1 year ago

Curious, why none of you are thinking Urlacher gets in this time?

#9894 1 year ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

I was giving who I'd pick, not who I think will get in. Id say urlacher has a better shot than James with voters.

#9895 1 year ago

Couldn't put him before Ray Lewis.

#9896 1 year ago
Quoted from TheLaw:

Couldn't put him before Ray Lewis.

That's what I was thinking but I do believe he should be in.

#9897 1 year ago

It will be interesting to see if Lewis gets in with his prior murder charges. He definitely deserves to get in if you look just at his performance on the field.

#9898 1 year ago

Stupid "legal murdering."

#9899 1 year ago

That’s ancient history and he was never convicted of killing anybody. He skates on that, nobody cares, and Ray Lewis goes in first ballot. This is a board where half the people cling to “innocent until proven guilty” for Pinball designers accused of child porn, and we are gonna hold a grudge for Lewis?!

Owens should get in but it’ll take a few years since he was such a magnificent asshole. The same could be said for Moss.

Joe jacoby definetly deserves to get in even if he was often LT’s Bitch (but who wasn’t). As a skins fan I KNOW Jacoby deserves to get in but I worry that Russ Grimm will be the only one, representing the Hogs in entirety.

#9900 1 year ago

If you wanted to argue Urlachers side I'd say he didn't have the supporting cast around him the way Lewis did. Ed Reed is a top 3 all time great Safety and one of the best defenders in history. Nagta up front was a beast and would protect Lewis. Bears didn't have much else. Tillman and Briggs for a couple years but neither are all timers.

Both player's deserve to get in however they don't stack positions often. Sapp and Strahan were same year eligible and they picked Sapp and made Strahan wait a year.

I think they'll make Urlacher wait and take Lewis this year. But again both great players. Have both their jerseys still.
