Quoted from SteveO:Gordon is trying to beat Steve Howe's record. I think MLB suspended him 9 times for drug infractions.
I remember seeing a documentary on him, he would be doing blow everyday right in the bullpen, lol

Remember you saw it here first!
That would be awesome but I see the Jags going 7-9, if they are lucky. At least they might be able to take the tarp off the upper deck seats and sell some tickets to the home game against the Pack.
Quoted from RWH:Bengals started training camp today! Who Dey!!
I say sit everyone until one series in preseason game 3. Here's to a healthy training camp!
Quoted from chuckwurt:I say sit everyone until one series in preseason game 3.
Come on now...you know the coaches aren't smart enough for that
Starting to have doubts about Tyler Eifert........ (career length) great TE but he's been very injury prone and the position is played a lot inside the LB's, you must be durable.
I see another 12 win season and another year atop the AFC North!

I'm nervous about Eifert too. He's like a lesser version of Gronk. Dinged up all the time, but a game changer when healthy.
Gold jacket ceremony on nfl network. Nice hof class this year. Great to see Eddie D and Kevin Greene finally get in.
Colts/Packers Sunday. Season is almost here
The HOF game was cancelled because they used the wrong paint on the field making it unsafe to play. That's a new one on me.

Yeah, somebody is going to lose their job for that one

Guess that means they are going to dump Marvin then as he's the dumbass that cost us the game.

Plenty of blame to go around...truly one of the biggest choke jobs I've ever seen. That game was over at least 2 times.
There's a reason they're called the bungles and haven't won in the playoffs since 1990. There's a whole generation of kids who only know them as losers with ugly uniforms
Quoted from str8cash:There's a reason they're called the bungles and haven't made the playoffs since 1990. There's a whole generation of kids who only know them as losers with ugly uniforms
Wow this is the most ignorant thing I've ever heard about the NFL.

What, truth hurts? Cheapest organization in the nfl. Only team not to have a practice facility. Have a hard time luring free agents because no one wants to play for a cheapass owner like Brown. Besides the recent run with Dalton and the one year with Palmer when he had his knee blown out they're not even relevant the past 2 decades. Go Steelers! Poke, poke...

Ummm... I believe they've made the playoffs a "few" times since 1990, now winning a playoff game is a different story

Have you watched the NFL in the past 5 years? The Bengals are one of the NFL's elite teams. Yeah they suck in the playoffs, but they have one of the best teams in the NFL no doubt.
Free agents?? This is something that the bengals do better than every other team in the NFL. They draft, retain, reward all their stars. Name one big free agent pick up in the history of the NFL that proved to be worth the money, if not a complete and utter disaster. Oh and if all these players didn't want to play for the bengals, why are the bengals retaining all these great players?
Is mike brown a cheap ass? Sure. But what he is for sure is a fantastic businessman. Also, once he gave the reigns of the organization to the people around him that know what they are doing, this organization took HUGE leaps forward.
Name me an organization that has been relevant for the past 20 years. It's simply not possible. Have the steelers, Patriots, and other organizations been more successful? Absolutely. But right now, the Bengals are one of the best run, most successful organizations in the NFL.
They will never get out of the stigma of the 90s and early 2000s, and that's fine. I'll keep watching this great team play and enjoy every minute of it while it lasts.
There are only 4 teams in the NFL who have made the playoffs the past 5 years
Pats
Broncos
Packers
Bengals
Oh and that's with being in arguably the best division in the NFL. If you think the Bengals are not one of the NFL's best, you're delusional and obviously living in the past.
WHODEY!!
Quoted from chuckwurt:Name one big free agent pick up in the history of the NFL that proved to be worth the money.
Drew Brees worked out pretty well for the Saints. For the most part though, free agents work out more like Albert Haynesworth did with the Redskins than Brees.
Quoted from SteveO:Drew Brees worked out pretty well for the Saints. For the most part though, free agents work out more like Albert Haynesworth did with the Redskins than Brees.
Exactly. Drew Bree's was literally the only one I could think of.
Bengals paid Antonio Bryant (WR from the Bucs) 8 million on year deal and he was hurt before he made it to Cincy. Never played a game. That was the last time I've seen them spend on any sort of free agent. I'm glad they've stayed away.

*Ahem* The Seahawks have made the Playoffs the last five years as well.
Quoted from Ronnie1114:*Ahem* The Seahawks have made the Playoffs the last five years as well.
From what I'm reading they were 7-9 in 2011 and third in the NFC west. I guess that could be wrong, but that's what NFL.com says.
Quoted from Ronnie1114:Also, Peyton Manning worked out pretty well for the Broncos as well...
Yep you're right. However, if not for his neck, I think we can all agree he probably would've retired a Colt.

Congratulations you have just made the most ignorant statement in the history of this thread. You either, as Chuck pointed out, do not watch football or the football you do watch is called soccer here in the USA..... Truly stupid my friend, you should refrain from any comments concerning NFL teams. Cincinnati is one of the top NFL organizations in the league. Have you ever seen the Bengals stadium, workout facilities....I think not they are simply put, state of the art and definitely one of the best the league has to offer. Stick with soccer you won't come out looking so stupid that way.
Quoted from TheLaw:Maybe he was thinking of the Browns?
No he just wasn't thinking......

I have no animosity towards the Steelers, in fact they harbor my deepest respect. They make the Bengals a better team and I'd like to think the reverse is true as well. We play in what I'm sure most will agree, is one of the toughest divisions within the NFL, (IMHO the toughest), but one thing is certain when we meet it is an all-out war where both sides know they best bring their A-game.... and a bottle of pain relievers for the aftermath.
I know a lot of people don't like Marvin Lewis as a coach but from afar he seems to have done well. He's changed the culture of the Bengals similar to what Tony Dungy did with the Bucs. If the Bengals hired another coach, the same thing that happened with the Bucs might happen with the Bengals. They hired Gruden and won a Super Bowl but I think they would have done that with Dungy. Then they promptly became inconsistent and never were a real contender again.

That's 100% correct and they made the playoffs with that record. It was the year of the beastquake run against the Saints. Worst record ever for a playoff team.
EDIT: I'm an idiot and stand corrected, that was 2010, not 2011. Carry on

Haha yeah I was gonna say. Cannot make the playoffs with a 7-9 record and be in third place in the division.
That year they beat the saints in the playoffs was crazy. That's what prompted most of the debate that playoff home games should be based off record.

That game was awesome!! Yeah 7-9 is pretty lame for the playoffs but at least they made it interesting!

I'm not a Seahawks fan but I remember jumping up and down when Lynch broke off that run. It was amazing.

One of the best runs ever!
It is true I have no love for Marvin Lewis, I will agree he did change the culture in Cincy but, I also think he just got in during a time when as Chuck stated, Mike Brown was turning over control and the Bengals had and have an ass-lode of talent. That being said I think it ha always been the talent that brought Lewis this far and it's glaringly obvious each and every time he has to make a game deciding decision.......He can't, and teams like the Steelers know it......stay close and Lewis will most certainly make a bad call. I've heard all the arguments about how they couldn't go for the field goal, but the truth is they should have, and even if they did miss the try they would've been in no worse shape than they were by just giving the ball over on downs..... Take your shot and don't place your players in a position where they feel the need to make a game-changing play every snap and you won't have the penalties..... Marvin should go, what the Bengals IMHO need is a throw-back style coach like Ditka or better yet Forest Greg, kick ass and worry about who it was when the game is over!
Anybody want to share moments when they got really excited or depressed because of football?
My earliest memory of football was the 1991 49ers vs. Giants conference championship. I was six at the time and remember we went to church so we had to tape the game with the VCR. My dad had bought my brother and I a box of Pro Set cards that year. We would open one pack a day. Joe Montana and the Niners ended up being our favorites. It was devastating when watching the game. Leonard Marshall came from behind Montana and just knocked his socks off. That image is burned into my brain. Montana was injured and the Niners lost. The Super Bowl I remember rooting against the Giants because they knocked off the Niners and they of course won on the FG miss by the Bills. You could say we were started off right on sports with the feeling of losing both times.

Neil Fucking O'Donnel's 2 picks in SB XXX
Quoted from TheLaw:Neil Fucking O'Donnel's 2 picks in SB XXX
Can you elaborate? Were they terrible picks or not his fault? I have no memories of that Super Bowl or who even played. I know O'Donnel was a Steelers QB.
Worst moment - still has to be palmers injury even though this past playoff game was brutal.
Best moment - probably 2009 I went to the game with my Dad. Palmers last second pass to Andre Caldwell to beat the steelers in Cincy. Was so great to see them win a big rivalry game like that.
Quoted from dmbjunky:Can you elaborate? Were they terrible picks or not his fault? I have no memories of that Super Bowl or who even played. I know O'Donnel was a Steelers QB.
Steelers/Cowboys and they were totally the worst INTs ever...like everyone kind of believes he was paid off. Steelers had a real chance in a decade when AFC hadn't done jack.
Exhibit A 1:10
Exhibit B 1:45
I mean...wow
Quoted from chuckwurt:Worst moment - still has to be palmers injury even though this past playoff game was brutal.
I went to the Cin/Det game that year in my Steelers swag...Who Dey nation was pumped that year talking shit to me...they paid for it with Palmers knee
Those INTs were pretty bad.
It's hard for me to understand how Troy Aikman made the Hall of Fame. He seems like an average QB on a very good team. 4 out of his twelve years he had more INTs than TDs, 2 more years he only had one more TD than INTs and 3 of those 6 years he made the Pro Bowl.
