Quoted from fosaisu:I'll bid 4 games completed healthy. Hope he proves me wrong or does the smart thing and retires before his next big hit to the head.
Im going 3,seems We are <optimistic
I’m rooting for Tua and the Dolphins especially against the Patriots….But between the hands, ankles, ribs, knees, hips, back and concussions put me down for 9.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:This is funnier than any meme you’ve ever posted !
I'm going to stop posting memes since it seems to be a trigger that causes sane people to embarrass themselves.
I think 13 is a good guess for Tua, plus it’s my favorite number. Someone already picked that, so I’ll go with 12.
I just don’t understand how any of you folks think Tua is gonna make it though half a season without a career-ending concussion.
That shit doesn’t simply just stop and go away…it gets worse and ends a career. I’ve seen it.
Google Jordan Reed.
Dudes have been playing with concussions for decades. Google steve young. Google brett favre (safe search off for maximum fun). Rodgers had some good bell rings early in his career, which might explain some things.
There's a light on it now, but bottomline, if he wants to keep playing (and can do so effectively) he will. Especially with a franchise running this guy as team doc.
giphy (1) (10).gifI just don’t think that shit flies anymore. Steve young, aikman, Favre…all absolutely ancient history.
When those guys were playing, the NFL denied CTE even existed, and most fans and everybody else involved were also in complete denial.
2023 NFL allowing an obvious concussion case to keep playing “because he wants to” is gonna not only be terrible PR, it’ll open up the league to serious legal and financial liability.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:I just don’t think that shit flies anymore. Steve young is ancient history.
If they took it seriously he wouldn't have been playing last year. I just dont beleive the nfl doesn't care about its players anymore than it used to, they're just under pressure to make it appear they do.
Quoted from Deaconblooze:I just dont beleive the nfl doesn't care about its players anymore than it used to
100%. The NFL is all about business. They already paid the former players $700+ million and said they'd check into some better helmets to prevent further injuries. The show goes on. If a player wants back in there they have to give the right answers under the tent, and sometimes the signs are more subtle and overlooked. TUA didn't just say i want back in.. there has to be 3 or 4 doctors that need to be in agreement as well.
* also, didn't they determine it to be his shoulder or something!? (I can still visualize them crinkled fingers)
Quoted from CrazyLevi:..2023 NFL allowing an obvious concussion case to keep playing “because he wants to” is gonna not only be terrible PR, it’ll open up the....
Well in 2022 they called an obvious concussion a foot injury AND STILL CLAIM IT TO THIS DAY! But don't worry, they fired that independent concussion specialist so everything is cool.
The independent neuro doc told the NFLPA to shove it and then the NFLPA’s feelings were hurt so they had him removed.

I have the same doctorate degree you guys do, Tua will be fine. 19 games completed this season including a playoff win vs Jets.

I thought the May NFL thread was a safe space for Pinside dreamers and off topic posting.
Hoping Tua goes 17-0 and for the last game we can pit the remaining 1972 Dolphins vs current team and fans
Maybe Lions-Dolphins Super Bowl featuring two undefeated teams in the big game?
Here are the picks for the 2023 Healthy Tua Contest so far.
jandrea95 didn't follow the rules and picked 19, so I'll drop him down to 17 for a complete regular season

Have you seen this list of ranking the best QBs group by division?
I can’t believe that AFC west with Mahomes, Herbert, jimmy G and Russ isn’t the top of the list. But well Russ isn’t what he used to be.
Personally I’d put AFC west at number 2 spot.
Quoted from TheLaw:Most dominant player ever.
Watching film of him made me think the expression "Man playing among boys" was born. Eric Dickerson was as dominant, power and speed wise.
Quoted from rai:OJ was also dominant in his time.
Not really comparable. OJ had 5 great seasons; meh
Quoted from jandrea95:RIP Jim Brown
Oh man.....I hate to hear that. A great man and one of the best players ever.
Jim Brown was before my time, but my dad would talk about how great he was. Losing these legends is always a bummer.
Quoted from Daditude:A great man
I think his domestic violence track record and attempted murder for throwing his girlfriend off a balcony keeps him out of the "great man" category

What's the prize? And are we talking the Cowgirls?
Predicting win totals before training camp is like predicting the weather a month in advance. No one knows. If your starting QB or center goes down in the first couple weeks your team is likely to not see the playoffs.

center?
Jim brown was an all timer, an activist, and a pretty good actor also.
Had brains to retire early.
Threatened to come back in early 80s to defend his records but thankfully did not go through with it.
Any given Sunday is my all time favorite football movie !

I was certain he was in From Dusk Til Dawn. That was not him.

Great blurry QB progression reads in that flick; won't be topped.
Plus at the end you get to hear Pacino says "Albuquerque New Mexico;" which is fantastic

Fred Williamson man

Yeah, who the fak knows on any weekend. Don't wanna jinx no injury either, but the cowboys went 4-1 without Dak last year!
My parents bought a $50 clunker with an 8-track when I was kid and there was a Theme from Shaft tape in the glovebox. I played that tape until it wouldn't play anymore.
Off Topic posting? - yes
May in the football thread? - also yes
Quoted from CrazyLevi:I just don’t understand how any of you folks think Tua is gonna make it though half a season without a career-ending concussion.
It’s not that I think it will happen, I just hope it does. Man it was scary to watch on a few of those plays last year.
