Thank you for football, Canada

Quoted from Deaconblooze:

The only reason we got there geriatric rockers is because the last attempt to bring in the young folk resulted in an almost exposed nipple!
We're just one nearly visible areola away from a return to glory.

Yeah unfortunately I don’t think Ri’s vag sniff is gonna be enough to get Alice cooper up next year.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Alice can still bring it......and he'd actually sing.

I'd rather have a less then perfect performance then a grand version of So You Think You Can Dance.

#55454 1 year ago
Quoted from CrazyLevi:

You want to bring them out again now?!

Why not? The NFL seems to have a stiffy for "firsts". So, not only would this be the first time a band gets to play twice, but they would be the oldest band ever to play the halftime show (there's two firsts right there). And I think that by and large, it would go over well (except for the crowd that says that they're too old, of course, which again is just an ageist argument that wouldn't fly if it was any other subgroup).

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I got no problem with the geezer acts I go see them all the time, but you can't expect the NFL to cater exclusively to the AARP set

I feel for you and the new icon. Man o man talk about taking your lashings.

Quoted from Jamesays:

Im not ususally 1 to complain about bare ass broads shaking it but it really is supposed to be Family Friendly. And if you smell your own crotch finger thats weird not hot.

Wait a minute... since when is the NFL supposed to be family friendly?

#55458 1 year ago
Quoted from nwpinball:

family friendly

I don't know when kids start watching football these days, I started on my 7th birthday in the late 70s and never looked back. While other kids were into comic book heroes, I was into real life heroes like Ken Stabler, and the entire Raiders roster -- collected every card...

But when we were kids back then -- the TV promos weren't terrifying for children. Six Million Dollar Man? Columbo? Less-Filling, Tastes Great?

I feel bad for young children trying to watch wholesome football games today, while all these PG-14 station promos play on about shows on gun violence, missing persons, murder, jail time, and other tough (but unfortunately real) aspects of American society better suited for 14 and up.

I'm not saying these promos don't belong on TV, of course they do, during *similar programs* at certain evening hours of the day -- I'm just sad that children have to see these during a football game, where they are just way out of place. It would be like airing them during Jungle King or other Disney special...

It was a bet and I'd never renege. I talked a lot of shit this season so I earned it. Eagles in great shape moving forward. They have a QB still on his rookie deal (but they will need to pay), #10 & #30 1st round draft picks this spring, a 1st and two 2nd round picks in 2024 plus salary cap space.

A bunch of free agents will leave, mostly older defensive players signed on 1 year or less deals. After last night's defensive performance, good riddance. All the young talent is locked up for years. Jason Kelce's hand picked replacement sat on the bench this year, Cam Jurgens, last year's 2nd round pick from Nebraska. He'll carry the torch if Jason retires.

The future is bright for the Eagles I think.

#55460 1 year ago

Ok fine.

Madonna can play next year!

Or maybe Cher!!

Not terrifying? What about The Creature?? (sadly I cant find a better quality video of this classic)

#55462 1 year ago

How do we feel about the announcers?

Seems like they did a great job!

And I think even the most dedicated homer will admit they didn’t seem biased. Seems like equal opportunity blow jobs were handed out to both hurts and Mahomes, and split evenly between the Kelce brothers.

nothing wrong with a lil soft porn at half time I just want to pick the Babes

Here's to the Longest Wednesday of the year...

Here's to your health and happiness 7 months from now, after the "great hibernation", to enjoy the next spectacle!

#55465 1 year ago
Quoted from fosaisu:

They should do this every year, but just have it be Usher & Slash who join every time. If they can bail out Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas they can bail out anyone.

Last year's 90s & 00s Dr. Dre + friends mainstream rap hits one was good.

#55466 1 year ago

Yeah that was cool to see in person. They did a great job. Only complaint was the light show was muted cause it was still light out.

#55467 1 year ago
Quoted from mof:

...in the late 70s and never looked back. ... aspects of American society better suited for 14 and up.

There was no such thing as "14 and up" in the 70s cause those kids weren't pussies!

But yes...what could be more wholesome than the 1970s Oakland Raiders.

#55468 1 year ago
Quoted from usandthem:

How is it any better saying that someone is ineligible to perform at SB halftime simply because they’re too old than it would be to say that they can’t perform because they’re black, or a woman, or gay, etc.?
In the past two years, Mick and Keith (both turned 78 in 2021 and 79 in 2022) sold out arenas internationally. Mick has more energy performing for 2.5 hours than the average pinhead would have playing pinball for that long.

have you seen motley crue lately in concert? that's why. Too old now. they had their time, they performed when they were younger. old groups may still sell out and have older audience members for the most part, but doesn't mean they perform well esp for a super bowl. time to move on.

I've been to Arizona many times, the grass is always shitty. But maybe that's because I'm used to the primo grass we have Washington.

In addition to everything else better the CFL does, I bet their halftime shows are even more amazing.

Both did great halftime shows in the past... but do they do repeats? After seeing that Dave Grohl commercial I'm thinking it might be the Foo Fighters next.

Pretty sure it was Tragically Hip every year; so I don't know what they do now.

Quoted from Erik:

Well its a very recent double hybrid Bermuda...and the paint wasnt helping.
I heard an eagle (i think) said it was better than when rhey played in ARZ earlier in the year.

Hopefully, once again, we can stop with the fake anti Turf movement

California has the best grass, its the weather

#55477 1 year ago

Real turf, but sodded just 2 weeks before the game seems like a horrible idea. There was a ton of paint on the field, which seems a little silly considering everyone watching knows what game it is, and you could just throw graphics up whenever you want.

Outdoor grown weed is... not the best. I prefer grow lights and hydroponics in a generic warehouse next to the place I like to drink and play pinball at, so there is a good waft of fresh bud in the air for blocks. Alaska, Washington and Oregon have been growing better weed inside than California has for 30 years.

#55479 1 year ago

Arizona may never get another super bowl after this turf disaster.

Look at New Orleans….used to do one there every decade. I wonder if the power going out for 90 minutes last time caused the nfl to no longer trust New Orleans.

Too bad it’s a great town for a super bowl.

Spot on. Rihanna has talent, what she did last night was a disgrace. Her lip syncing was so bad, it was like she didn't even care. Pretending to sniff and lick her stank finger, oh yeah, what a wonderful moment in television for our younger generation. Like I said, she was a disgrace last night and she didn't have to be.
Maybe my stalker will downvote me again!

I didn't know you were an actual Ri Ri fan and sincerely disappointed in her set! I thought u were just bashing her! I agree tho, not her best performance. I'm not a huge fan but she was off for sure. That's unfortunate she didn't leave you feeling empowered! I can go erase the downvote, it just means i disagree with the post but you have state your team allegiance! Are you a bears fan? Need more of them in here. But that was a weird first post in the nfl thread

I'd say u didn't talk that much shit & that your team backed it all up! Eagles were scary before the fukkin preseason even started.. and they never really let up.. they were the favorites in the superbowl! 'Nuff said! I commend you annd Dude Regular for how you handled the game.. it was a great game and the best 2 teams were in it. How nervous are you about both coordinators probably leaving this offseason tho!?
* well played on the avatar too!

The Eagles head coach guy bothers me. Someone a while back pointed out it is his visor. That's probably part of it. The other aspect is that I don't like the way he acts on the sidelines. During the Super Bowl when they spent 10 minutes trying to figure out if that paper thin Alabama receiver guy caught the ball cleanly, the Eagles coach guy started waving his arms all around and trying to direct the BBQ players where they should line up for the next play. It was dumb. I don't think Tom Landry or Don Shula did that junk.

Plus he reminds me of Mr. Snuffleupagus from Sesame Street.

Motley is a great example of a band that has lost it. Agree. But for every Motley, I'll give you a heritage act that has not lost it. And yes, only rock acts seem to play live at the Super Bowl, so it matters.

I think phish needs an opportunity to play the SB. Especially if it goes back to NY at some point.

Bradshaw mentioned the entire field was painted, implying the green as well. Not sure if that was true or just his blabber

I know they use a dye through the irrigation systems at golf courses in dry regions, so it was probably the case.

Called the game. Nothing memorable, but that's okay. Similar to refs, they should never be the show.

A guy at the party I was at said “Well, Eagles are losing”, as soon as he saw that.

I really thought the game was over at half. Sure, the Eagles only managed to be up 10 after 'dominating' the first half, but with Mahomes hobbled it seemed like a comeback was probably out of the question. It seems the Eagles thought the same thing.

#55499 1 year ago

Just talked to an Eagles fan at my work and he is saying the same stuff as people on here.

1. He is happy that Eagles coordinators are leaving.
2. He is happy any old guy players are leaving.
3. He is upset with the defense in the 2nd half and is fine with the coordinator going away.
4. He didn’t bring up the penalty.
5. He said Hurts more than made up for his fumble that the BBQs scored on.
6. He says they will be back.

Yeah another piss poor second half for a leading SB team.
